It is expensive living on the Scottish islands especially when you only have the Cop-op for your weekly shop and they only stock trifle sponges in the run up to Christmas.
That being said lat Sunday Tesco in the Kingsway Retail Park in Dundee had run out of trifle sponges.
Surely these things are taken into consideration when looking for a place to live? Living in an idyllic situation such as the highlands, Islay or any other island / remote place is always going to be costly for transportation and inconvenient for shopping isn't it?

    Hi Deeranged.
    It should not be.
If things are delivered by Royal Mail there is no surcharge as there is a universal price throughout the UK for delivery. It is thanks to the Co-op stores in remote places and Scottish islands where there is no competition that the Co-operative food retail division is still in business.
Other large retail businesses deliver goods free of charge to Islay providing you order a sufficient amount of goods. I think that you have to spend a minimum of £50 with M & S to have your order delivered free of charge to Islay.
