I'm always wary of signings like this. 5/6 years ago he was a cracking player. He's spent most of the time since either injured or warming a bench. You never know what you're getting in that situation. Sow, Pawlett, Demel, we've had too many of them for my liking.

Agreed. Those types of signings rarely work out for us. We should be targeting young, hungry players we can blood this season to be ready for next.

Good point. Maybe we should be thinking about one or two short-term loans at this stage. Gives both player and club to see if they suit each other. See if they can stay fit for a start!!

We are in a decent position in this transfer window in that we can probably continue 'as is' and achieve our goal for the season. We can justify a couple of 'decent' loans in if we can offload Sow. But I think that (i.e. offloading Sow) may not be that easy as I I'm led to believe he's on a decent wage at Utd.

At the end of the day, if United 'keep their powder dry' until summer and see what we need then in terms of 'incoming' players you can't argue with that.

We are currently on course for the title. We have a great support for a championship team (there are plenty of clubs in the top tier that would love to have what we have) The team appear to be United with each other and with the support too.

Anyway, to sum up, I agree about not signing any more players based on what they have done in the past. Get them in on loan, see what they are made of and, if they prove themselves, then sign them.

just finished Jousting With Giants last night (2nd time, first read when i was wee, got for christmas) and wee Jim was bemoaning us only having an average crowd of 11000. We are on the way back to that level and if we can get 12k of our own fans in for the derby and persuade some of them to become regulars then we will have a chance next season. If the owners see crowds going up then the transfer kitty might swell

nae danger fans will start coming back week after week, the whole match day experience in Scotland is piss poor and too expensive

I like the sound of that. I've seen a few MLS games first hand and the level is well above ours currently.

If he's better than what we have, then I'm all for it. If he's just to add to the pool then I'm not sure we need another central midfielder tbh.
From what I'm hearing, while the MLS is of a decent standard, the team he plays for are fairly ****, lie 2nd bottom of the league and he can't get a game for them.
