It's obvious that Fitzsimons doesn't feature in our manager's future plans, so it's best that we can get him at least partly off the wage bill. It's a bit of a gamble not having a keeper on the bench, but it's one that's paid off so far.
With the injury clause it's a great move for the club and maybe the player.
Slocombe has been one of if not our best player during this good run
We've still got Jake Kean as well in the event of an emergency.
What about a real emergency? Seeing as we don't put a sub keeper on the bench, we must have an outfield player lined up to take over if Slocombe gets injured or sent off. I presume they would do a few training sessions with the goalkeeping coach in the week, but has it ever been revealed which player would take over between the sticks?
