What happens if a player's contract expires at the start of June, but the season goes on beyond that point? Are the clubs reliant upon player's goodwill to either extend by a month, or play out of contract? #rufc

A very good point methinks and also what happens to our loan players? we will burgered if Iversen and Barlaser go back to their clubs after May 5th. I suppose this will apply to all our rivals as well.

I will assume the EFL have considered these points and are doing summat to sort out the problem.
On a positive side assuming Iekwe is only out 5 or 6 weeks he should then not miss so many games.

Of course, the EFL might still want clubs to squeeze in any reaming games before May 5th if poss but that could penalise clubs with smaller squads like ourselves.

Another point which comes to mind, if it comes to the point where the season is totally cancelled where does that leave the likes of Bolton who may argue they should start afresh next year because their points deduction were for this season. It could also apply to the pigs should they be given a points deduction for this season. It would probably be best for the EFL not to give any points deductions out at all now till they know whats happening.

US Masters due to start on April 9th already cancelled is probably a good indication of how far out advisers are expecting the impact of this to continue. All schools closed here until April 27th.

I think at best a mid-April/early May 'reboot' is what we can expect so season will complete (if it does) sometime in June.

What about contractual problems as above if that happens Cam? Dont think it is that simple to say we will just finish in June.

I guess the world has far bigger problems than sporting contracts so if there can't be some give and take then I'm afraid I don't have the answer. It's like the parents here whose first response to schools being closed to protect public health is to sue the school districts

True Camiller but as you know particularly in the US a suing culture exists in most matters. If we had to stop the footy season because we were being invaded by aliens some fecker would make a legal case out of it...

I agree that there would need to be give and take but that would always be a matter of contention..

It’s a bit of a concern for some business's that have supplies coming in from abroad when they are shutting some borders

I know this is going to sound very simplistic but why not just protect the people which are most vulnerable because it appears they are the ones most likely to die from the virus and let the rest of us get on with getting the bug in our own time like any other bug we may get. They say for most the bug is very mild. Once we have had it surely we should be immune then and get on with our chuffin lives again.

International air and shipping trade is not currently impacted but of course in Europe a lot of trade will be impacted due to the amount of road movement. We have projects due to be completed in 2023 being impacted by deliveries due from Chinese contractors who have been closed for 3 months.
