"In its latest report, it said the only "viable strategy" is a Chinese-style policy of "suppression" involving the social distancing of the entire population. Such measures would need to be maintained potentially for 18 months or more until an effective vaccine became available, it suggested."

They'll have to think of another way, if this 'social distancing' lasts for 18 months then our economy will be wrecked, most of the population will be out of work, and we'll be heading back to the Stone Age.

If you're not convinced by the two experts/muppets flanking Boris, here is someone else who isn't.

interesting "modelling" there - 59"....makes me wonder - in the absolutely extreme, unbelievably unhinged....worst case scenario - what the numbers would be "If" everyone with older teeth - all got "Severe" toothache needing immediate dental assistance - within a very close period of time - " Just Imagine It ".........yeah I know, a bridge too far !

Sorry Sinkov but I don't have much respect for people like Dr richard North. As it says at the bottom, "Dr Richard North is a self-employed political researcher" These type of people are two a penny and can be found sniping at more renowned people from time to time. They would make dreadful company, complaining about the weather, the colour of your pants or anything else.

If the experts are wrong he estimates that more than half a million people in the UK will die (and he is telling us that they ARE wrong)

If the "experts" (which he has criticised) are correct, then the death toll could be expected to be around 20,000.

The "experts" have said that, if the Government had not implemented their advice, then around 250,000 would die.

I am putting my faith in the "experts".

Serious question, if your wife needed urgent medical attention, would you be happy for her to be treated by an NHS expert, the head of whom is a "muppet" flanking Boris in press conferences?

How can these scientific experts lose? If there are lots of casualties they will say it would have been much much worse except for the measures they recommended and if there are fewer deaths they will credit that to their strict controls.

Question is Outwood, if the buck stopped with YOU, who would you go to for advice?

I bet you would take guidance from the chief medical officer. Luckily, our PM is doing that.

There will always be people who think that we should do the opposite of what the experts say, but they are our best hope in national emergencies and if we don't listen to them then who the hell do we go to for advice?

I don't trust any of the experts 59, I put that link up just as an alternative view to generate discussion. I remember what the experts said about the damage that would be caused to our economy by not joining the Euro, the damage to the economy that would be caused by a vote to leave the EU, wrong and wrong. Richard North points out numerous examples of where the health muppets have got it wrong before, he may be right that they've got it wrong again, who knows, I don't, you don't, North doesn't, and to be fair to them Boris's muppets admit they don't either, they're flying by the seat of their pants.

I never bought into the WMD bullsh-it and I ain't buying into this tosh either.

Let's just consider what's on the table here? A person of Chinese origin living in Wuhan, eats a bat or a snake in October 2019 and by 18/03/2020 I can't buy a bog roll or go and watch Burnley?

    Someone's taking the pish mate!
