O/T Coronavirus Thread

We are a matter of days before we ALL go in to lockdown in my opinion .

It might be worthwhile to stop bickering and support one another through this .

Corbyn would have had the same health and scientific advisors as Johnson so doubt anything would have been different.

Don't doubt it but I think the NHS would have been stronger if we had had a few years of Labour govt before.

I agree we do have to play with the hand we have been dealt and do what we can with it. We have no choice. I only wish we had a couple of aces up our sleeve. Time will tell...

You think they had psychic powers and would have spent it on thousands of ventilators and stockpiled them in warehouses in preparation for this very occasion?

Last time they were in power most of the extra money went on doctors' wages and new contracts for GPs which meant they no longer had to provide out of hours care, good for doctors, not good for patients.

They also saddled health authorities with millions in debts with PFI deals.

Then there was the Stafford Hospital scandal.

And the fact that the Labour-controlled NHS in Wales is run worse than the NHS in England.

So overall I'd have to disagree.

Basically the experts think everyone will get it, even with a vaccine, but they want that to be over a period of 3 or 4 years so the health services can cope, not all at once.

I'm extremely worried about a good number of people right now both family and friends as I'm sure we all are .

It's a time when we should all come together despite old difference because right now those differences aren't worth shyte .

It's taken me 45 years to realise why Lord Of The Flies was on the school curriculum .

You are still misunderstanding me Cayton. I'm not overly critical of how the govt is handling the corona virus but we would have had a much better chance of dealing with this if we had a NHS that was stronger and geared up for it. Have you been happy with the running of the NHS in the last few years hand on heart? You seem an honest sort of chap...

And yes most govts in the world can be blamed for knowing this was coming and being complacent and not doing owt about it.

Maybe Boris can pull it off. We can only hope so but he aint playing with a good hand partly because of his own partys choosing.

Regardles of how the NHS has been run over the years were talking about the NHS dealing with a few thousand people (for today) ATM they are coping very well.
If we get to the figures of Iran/Italy ect then I don't think it would matter whatever precautions were made we would be screwed.
You can't say governments around the world have been complacent and done nowt as we don't know that. The only thing that could have been done differently is stock pile equipment and extra staff. The money isn't there to do this. Not just in our country but around the world.
