I’ve seen test pieces from 3 different casts, all with identical chemical analysis values shown on test certs from Chinese suppliers. Heard too many stories.

If it’s critical applications, Western European Origin is requested 100 times out of 100.

I don’t mix and match and I believe in supporting local suppliers, whenever and wherever possible.

    Traceability is everything.

Hope it stays that way. Maybe one day we’ll make some decent stuff in this country again.

    Who knows.
Actually, no Ive never spoken to a material inspector, lol.

But noticed huge changes in China the last 10 years since Ive been going. Big changes happening in China and a shift from being the low cost workshop to the world to high tech suppliers.

They are fantastic people. Again Ive not met them all. Their people get an unfare bad rap in the west.

I wonder if this discrepancy would have been noticed if they had not been reported.Hope the news papers pick up on this & drive them out of business.

    Already stated it’s brilliant steel.

Your problem Crash is that the actual material composition isn’t always as stated on the tin. 316 304, could be low carbon and vice versa. In some cases it could be pig iron.

Well aware of the strides made but I can buy on this continent and make money.

If I can continue doing that, that rests better with my conscience.

    I don’t doubt a word.

A testing house or an underwriter wouldn’t sigh off some major projects because it can and has happened.

I’ve been involved in a couple of potential multi million pound claims over the years with steel and I’ve heard some stories and in some cases seen evidence.

Not exclusive to China but a high proportion of cases can be traced back. Same with India.

Most applications fine and the quality is constantly of a better quality. There’s just a question mark sometimes.

If I haven’t explained it now, iI never will 😂😂

Very naive indeed Wan, there’s a article on the BBC about the doctor in China who revealed the virus who said they may reporting a small percentage.

Remember the guy in the riots in 2011 who stole Basmati rice from Tesco when everyone else was stealing trainers and TVs?

9 years ahead of his time.
