The only thing that has changed in the last four days is seeing some recent data about how our confirmed cases and deaths are mirroring the trajectory of Italy's as of 2 weeks ago. I had originally suspected that we had been too slow to react, but those figures confirm we are on a similar path.

Having said all of that, I still hope that we make the right decisions going forwards. I really want Boris and his advisers to get this right. And in time, we can then look back and judge whether we have been correctly guided or not.
    Make your mind up.

Are you in the definitive 'we've been too slow' as per this thread or the 'we can then look back and judge whether we have been correctly guided or not' as per your last post?.

A few days ago, I suspected we had been too slow to react. Now that suspicion has gained even further traction looking at the recent daily figures and situation in Italy. But I could be wrong.

I've always been of the view that we have to give the Government the benefit of the doubt to make decisions on our behalf throughout this crisis, and look back in the future and judge them then. To be honest, I'm no expert on whether we should have adopted this 'herd immunity' approach, which we initially did. It will all come out in the wash at some point. I just want them to make the correct decisions and prevent unnecessary deaths, but I'm not sure if we are going to know this until some time in the future...

My initial thinking, is that we have been too slow to react.

The government is following advice from scientists and medical experts, I assume that you don’t know better than they do, so no point in being critical of them. I am sure the government and those experts are doing their best, let’s all applaud their efforts and refrain from knocking them.

Afternoon Ketts - get what you are saying but we are dealing with the British Public who are mostly compared to other countries - disrespectful - morons and yob culture.

Urging people to not use pubs or restaurants was only ever going to work for non idiots! Even this weekend a couple of pubs were open in Scotland!

Social distancing - it’s never going to work unless there’s a full lockdown! Even this weekend people were strolling around like it was a bank holiday and groups of lads playing full blown football games!

I like Boris but f ooking needs to be tougher. Close the lot down as it should have been weeks ago!! Why take all these risks??? Some people really need to wake up!!

Why do you believe that 'mostly compared to other countries - disrespectful - morons and yob culture' us Brits are so much worse.

On the day Macron announced France was going into total lockdown the next day 3500 gathered to break the world record for the most number of people dressed as Smurfs. And you think we are the only idiots!

Evening 9goals! Not every individual fits into this bracket but the old saying is so true - you can easily spot the Brits overseas!!! I hope those individuals who defied the government and kept pubs open this weekend lose their licenses for good!!!

The only way to get infections down now is to enforce a lockdown!! Sad as I don’t want it but I do know many elderly who are really sweet. I want them to live!!

The selfish *******s who are not listening - well it would be different if their family members were in ICU dying and then put in a wooden box without even so much as a goodbye!

Go on Boris - shut everything down for ****sake!! Any frontline NHS workers will tel you that as know a few around us
