I was amused by some posts on facebook saying that one day Boris would one day announce the all clear and we would all rush into pubs and get pissed in celebration. If only it was that simple!
A lot of truth to what you say there mr kerr. Could this be why some of boris's advisers are saying we can ease off some restrictions soon presumably as a means of trading off deaths with some protection of the economy. Maybe the govt have a figure of deaths in mind they are willing to tolerate to save the economy and have calculated for this.As long as the govt don't openly say it is a trade off ...

Once this thing is over and hopefully very soon with the least loss of life possible and a recession rather than a depression economy wise it's going to be interesting how the Tory government approaches the years ahead .
If they don't go down the austerity route then it simply exposes the last decade was an ideological choice and not the only show in town which they've consistently argued .
If they do go down that route then the electorate will simply not accept the cutting back on the NHS and social services given the heroes they are right now .
Rock and a hard place or what ???

It will be a big test for the govt. They certainly won't be able to neglect the NHS for a start and would they dare bring in austerity measures again that hit the poor so much last time? In saying that they have a big majority in the h of c so they could probably do what they like..
For sure they can do what they want with the majority they have .
The question is politically and their own ideology the role of the state is back in play and they themselves have used that card and not Gordon Brown and the Labour Party , it's possibly their worst nightmare and they've signed it off .
A decade and counting in power takes any blame towards the Labour Party completely out of the game .
The mirror opposite is Corbyn with an 80 seat majority looking for free market unregulated neoliberalism to get him out of Dodge City .
Who pays the bill when this is all over ?
Most certainly the tory party donors won't want to and suddenly discover a heart n soul , they don't donate millions of pounds to the tories and expect a big fat tax bill to pay .
Someone has to we all surely recognise that .
All of us ?
Some of us ?
At this moment in time the NHS and Social Services are untouchable , key workers in low paid jobs in supermarkets , supply chains and anyone else out there working right now are untouchable .
The Tories themselves have bestowed upon them the key workers title .
Any tax cuts for the wealthy and austerity for the rest of us will be political suicide in the coming years .
The Tory donors " don't look at me " conversations could be interesting ??? .
Any chance we can have a political thread and get this one back to the more important matter?

Ambulance arrived this evening at my neighbour house. The household has mum. 40 ish. ****age daughter 17. Toddler 6.
Mum who is a nurse opened door. Paramedic went in kitted up with all the PPE carrying what looked like metal weighing scales or metal briefcase. After 1/2 hour the paramedic came out alone and ****age daughter closed the door. So looks like little one is ill. Fingers crossed for the little one it's nothing serious though with the current climate the mind boggles
Just take note of the idiotic posters on here, unbelievable
