I can't believe the allies helped them rebuild their country after the war. Germany imo should have ceased to exist as a country, they should all have been put to work for the victors, that's what they would have done to us if they had won the war.
We have to apologise now for bombing them and the kids of Bomber Command many of whom never came home are treated as lepers.
Do you seriously think they would have apologised for London, Coventry, Birmingham, Liverpool, Plymouth, Portsmouth and all the other cities they pulverised?
I was watching an interview a few days ago with Frank whose father had been governor of Poland. He said Germany felt insecure being surrounded with countries like France and Poland, and while the country is now the strongest in Europe, he said it would only take a downturn in the economy to change that.
The right wing is becoming strong again there.
When the two Germany's were reunited in the late eighties and old bloke i knew said to me, bad mistake, they will start again, it might not be in our lifetimes but they will.

So you are advocating we should have done to them as they would have done to us. Does that not us as bad as them?

It was the 'punishment' meted out Germany after WW1 that led to Adolf coming to power. We learned our mistake and helped them (actually the Yanks did) rebuild. The result has been 75 years of peace in Europe for probably the first time ever with no prospect of any conflict in the future. And after the battering they took in WW11 I can't imagine many Germans being ready for war anytime soon.

Now Putin and the Russians that's much scarier for Europe.
