I think Grealish is probably a decent player.

However, i think he'd be a **** team player and therefore am not convinced he'd be a good fit.

But hey, depends on what style/system the manager wants to play.

Like I said I think he's a great footballer just got a major attitude problem remember him tearing us apart earlier in the season ? He's put in quite a few performances like that this season

If you look at the pattern both Man City and Chelsea went on, you’ll find they didn’t go out and buy world class players in the first couple seasons. They signed established or up and coming premier league players outside the top 4, players showing potential in foreign leagues and then one or two marquee player.

Chelsea:
PL: Duff, Joe Cole, Glen Johnson, Bridge
FL: Smertin, Muto, Gerimi
M: Makelele, Crespo

Man City
PL: Tel Ben Haim, Wright Phillips, Bridge, Bellamy, Given
FL: Jo, Kompany, Zabaleta, Nigel De Jong,

This mould was because these teams couldn’t attract the best players in the world at this stage but could offer the wage to attract the players they did, convincing them to make sideways moves instead of waiting for a traditional top 4 team.

If we were to do the same then recruitment could possibly look like this;

PL: Grealish, Digne, Issa Diop, Maddison, Zaha
FL: Milinkovic-Savic, Upcamecano, M Dembele
M: Coutinho

Potential line up would be

............................Dubravka
Yedlin..........Diop.........Upcamecano....Digne
.................Grealish.........M Savic
............................Maddison
Countinho......................................... ..Saha
...........................Dembele

ASM and Almiron from the bench when the other team is tiring, I’d also be tempted to start Lascelles over Upcamecano.

I’m not saying these players would sign for us but I’d say they fit the mould of previous projects. Good blend of experience and potential to go for top 6 that would make us more attractive the following summer and transfer window.

I would like to see us try and sign Maddison from Leicester. Good player even if he is a diving little cùnt.

I think it's important to keep hold of the core of the team. I also think it's important to get shot of the players that aren't going to be a part of plans going forward.

For instance; Ritchie is a decent squad player, but I wouldn't mind it if he left. He's done well here and he's served his duty with us. He's not going to help us advance though.

Could Shelvey play a role? Maybe, but I'd like to see more focus on the Longstaffs of the world and then signing new players to add strength to the midfield. It's hard to come up with realistic names, but Delaney at Dortmund is a player I admire.

Players like Dubravka, Schär and Lejeune need to kept a hold of, and Almiron and the Saint should both be part of the immediate future plans of the club.

Joelinton has been miserable overall, but I'm sure he's been managed and played properly. The jury's still out for me, but at any rate we are going to need a new striker. Doubt we can secure Werner, but that would be an incredible buy (and extremely expensive).

Lazaro looks decent to me. Wouldn't mind keeping him here for now.

Its just not going to buy a whole new squad in the first season!

No matter how rich we are that's too considering we will actually be looking for upgrades for a change..plus on the footballing side 11 players are never going to gell if thrown together all at once...

Our strikers all need throwing on the scrap heap so even if you give Joelinton another season to try to get to 5 goals then we need 2 new strikers...

After that we need 2 lb's, a rb, a good all rounder for central midfield and a productive winger...

If we managed to fill those positions with quality I believe the rest of the squad could then be slowly replaced with top drawer...

It will be nice for the manager/scout to decide who he wants then go out and get him without having to resort to a 3rd or 4th choice player.

Or embarrassingly bidding 15M less than the asking price of the player.

If another club comes along like Brighton or Burnley, not giving up on the deal saying “we can’t/ won’t compete with the big boys”

Hearing the phrase “we just couldn’t get it over the line ! “

If this is in response to my post, to be clear, I never said we would. What I’m trying to highlight is how previous, similar situations have panned how. I’m debunking any theory that we’ll be able to attract the biggest stars on the planet from the get go.

The team I showed is an example of how it could look if we were to follow the model used by Chelsea and City to highlight the quality of player that we may be looking at.
