The Turkey consignment saga which had such close scrutiny is just one example of the shenanigans involving Coronavirus products that is making it impossible for govts to deliver on promises. I heard an interview on the World Service last night with the Turkish ambassador to the UK and my guess is the Turks were dragging their feet holding out for more money (the supplier is a private co nothing to do with the Turkish Govt). Why didn't we call them out? Turkey is a major supplier of PPE. Is now a good time to point the finger?

Here are just some of numerous examples all after contracts had been signed
Germany blocked exports of 240,000 items to Switzerland and Czechia/Turkish govt blocked sales of ventilators to Spain/Slovakia lost a consignment from China when Germany paid more/Italian truck sent to Switzerland returned empty because a foreign country had taken the promised goods/France seized face masks and sanitizers on the way here/Italy seized 800,000 masks meant for Switzerland/680.000 bound for Italy face masks and ventilators confiscated by Czechia in an anti-trafficking operation. Czechia admitted the mistake but kept the goods/Swedish company claims France confiscates 6 million face masks from China destined for Spain and Italy/lots of stories of goods received not what was ordered or faulty.

Want to be the man responsible for managing that? I don't!

Why aren't we making gowns for instance here. Guy on our local news tonight has the machinery but can't get the specialist material.

I'm no fan of Matt Hancock and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go.He is an awful communicator so many ums and ers. but I do consider he is being made the scapegoat by a many. It's difficult in these times to take a barometer of ones views against others and I would appear to be in the minority on here. However last night 11 of us.'got together' for book club and to a man and woman we were all supportive of the govt speakers at the briefings and sick to the back teeth of the questions being asked. And 5 of the group either worked in NHS. were ex NHS or had family in the NHS

I’m sure you write some of this stuff just to wind me up 923......another poster said the same in regards to himself last week.

How condescending a reply......”I suppose you could get ping pong balls”.......etc,etc.

Would I be confident of getting PPE here?

Yes I would because I trust the guy who offered it me as I’ve done a lot of business with him over the last decade and he knows his stuff.

I don’t know what your history is in business and I don’t personally claim to be a genius in business 923 but I know my way around buying from and shipping in from China in the hundreds of thousands of Pounds.

What’s your history of conducting buying importing of goods from the Far East?

A very interesting comment from a guy on the Channel 4 special tonight who echoed what I’ve been saying in recent days.

He said that we’d become too reliant on believing China would always be able to cover whatever we needed come doomsday and that the PPE is so easy to produce that we should be doing it here at home.

As I said last night,it’s a totally automated process taking 45 seconds to produce and pack a certified N95 mask and 100,000+ per machine can be made in a day.

From now onwards there is no excuse for this stuff not being made here at home because once you buy the machine you're quids in in every way.

As for Hancock........a dreadful performance from a shifty, evasive man totally out of his depth.
