No need to issue a wake-up, the Chinese have been buying up all kinds of assets in industrial, commercial, service sectors, land, power generation, about to work on HS2 here in the UK. Some Chinese investment is done with the agreement of other state governments, some not. Its still down to us, because if we didnt buy the stuff that creates these hugely cash-rich Chinese conglomerates they would have the wherewithall to buy everything! We reap what we sow.

Since 2013,Saint Nazaire Port (France) has undertaken numerous commercial actions in Asia, with a view to developing new flows of containers and to attracting investors to the Loire Estuary, in the areas of energy, industry and agri-foodstuffs. Forged over the long term with Chinese companies, at the start of 2016 these relations successfully secured export container shipping traffic of meat product consignments representing around 1 000 TEUs per year. (TEU = 20 foot container). Now in 2020 that figure has gone through the roof.

Saint Nazaire Port continued with this substantive approach of 2016 working alongside the Port of Bordeaux, the Port Authority organised the first Atlantic Ports Forum, entitled "One Belt, One Road", in Qingdao, in the Province of Shandong China on the Yellow Sea near S.Korea.This commercial event was attended by 230 Chinese companies, including shipowners, shippers, and logistics providers interested in new business opportunities linking France and China. Every March two Chinese delegations composed of potential investors are welcomed to the French Loire Estuary/region with open arms........

I live 30 minutes from St Nazaire port and Nantes port (both famous old strategic French ports) ............. many business within the area I assist along with the many employees who work on the cargo lines logistics & cruise boat refits.Companies and workers coming from as far away as Hungary,Poland,Russia,Bulgaria and beyond all working on long term contracts may I add are in the area.

Airbus aviation is another massive employer in St Nazaire who sell globally their aircraft & technical equipment around the world - they also have a massive deal with China aviation to supply aircraft.

Recently new expensive yachts are now being built for the corporate sector and super rich, all very high tec with fancy computer controlled automatic sails working in tandem with refined Eco engines that are destined predominantly for Russia oligarch & USA money market corps.

Sadly I've seen no trade from Britain covering any of the above sectors.

On the other hand sadly I read that the Uk Naval fleet now has ageing boats badly in need of modernisation with no money to do it. https://www.savetheroyalnavy.org/mai...navy-mount-up/
Cannot see situations changing ............. Oz.

But I do source my seafood locally direct from the beach - but even then the waters are sadly filled with floating plastic discarded via global pollution.

I also try to drive cars made of European or USA origin and attending many classic car/truck/bike rallies is a real eye opener to how many vehicle manufactures no longer exist particularly British firms let alone French or American - but hey ho hopefully the 'young 'un's ' will have better answers to global problems.

Ah Yes. The wonderful and progressive French. Home of the company that built the Wuhan bio weapon lab. Hope the world grows some nads and sues for the trillions of economic damage along with the death and misery they caused. Not really too hard to get payment. Just confiscate the trillions of assets they own or just write off the debt. Really not any different than war crimes. Sending infected people around the globe when you close your own internal travel is little different than a neutron bomb

The French company that built the lab should be shut down and the execs that made the quick profit spend the rest of their days in A Turkish prison

How funny the world went after Hitler when he wanted to take over the world.Funny they went after hussan as apparently he was stocking up for chemical warfare. how we were shocked when the jews were slaughtered by the Nazis But not a word is been said about the way the Muslims are treated by the Chinese? China is going about taking over the world and we let them. Here have some land buy our businesses and you can have some more ports to bring over your faulty goods. The poor soldiers who lost there lives to protect us will be turning in the graves seen what is happening before our eyes.
Again i don't blame the chinese people only the regimes and our modern western society for letting it happen.

Spot on Spaldy but I bet you the rest of the world even though using special language towards the Chinese will soon be forgotten and business, as usual, the pockets will start feeling up again with dirty money as that is the way the world works the rich get richer and the poor keep forking out.

Hey on a real fuuny note if you ever considered to be a crim come over here to oz land you can get away with anything take a look at this lol. Its paywall so i have to copy paste.
A mother-of-two was allegedly caught driving a stolen car in Reservoir before she showed police one of several falsified driver’s licences she was carrying.

Kaylah Thorpe also allegedly had a collection of stolen credit cards and IDs, as well as suspected falsified cheques and drugs, Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court has heard.

The unemployed 26-year-old went before the court on Monday, April 20, having been held in custody since her arrest the night before.
The court heard police allegedly saw her driving a Mitsubishi Lancer in Reservoir about 10.40pm on Sunday, April 19, just 25 minutes after it was allegedly stolen from High St, Thornbury.

First Constable Irwin Fe said officers stopped Thorpe after she hit the kerb of the roundabout at the intersection of Strathmerton St and Fordham Rd.
Thorpe allegedly told police her name was Natalie, handing over a licence which had her photo added, forcing police to use facial recognition technology to confirm her identity.

The court heard police found five credit cards, two mastercards, an American Express card, five drivers licences, and a proof-of-age card in her bag, all allegedly stolen.

First Constable Fe said police also found two $8000 cheques made out to her, which were believed to have been falsified, two small bottles of clear liquid and a series of prescription tablets in deal bags.
Thorpe’s lawyer showed a report outlining her intellectual disability and PTSD diagnosis, and told the court Thorpe was a highly vulnerable person in custody as an Aboriginal woman, particularly during the coronavirus outbreak.

She said Thorpe had also just become the primary carer of her two children, aged 11 and nine.

But the prosecution opposed the Reservoir woman being granted bail, saying she was a heroin user, who didn’t seem to have a stable address, and police were concerned she would continue to offend.

First Constable Fe said police were unsure how she was caring for two young children when she was allegedly “seen wandering around Reservoir in a stolen vehicle” late at night.

Magistrate Michael McNamara granted bail to Thorpe, noting the delays on the court system, but said he didn’t give much weight to her being the carer of the children.

“It seems to me that any jail sentence would be less than the time she’s going to otherwise spend on remand for these matters,” Mr McNamara said.

“She will be particularly vulnerable in custody.”

He handed Thorpe strict bail conditions, telling her: “You need to be very careful.”

Man if i just stood there starring at a police woman id be locked up for a year and this crims get away with anything. And it's not just her most that go up get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. And than they go up again only to be told the same lol.
