Coronavirus and football.

Posted this on the wrong thread (sorry), but in short, according to DT and based on PPG so far this season - giving very little change from the current table - we’d finish 12th and Leeds, West Brom and Fulham would swap places with Norwich, Villa and Bournemouth.
Last year’s three promoted sides...Charlton, Luton and Barnsley would become this season’s relegated sides to be replaced by Coventry, Rotherham and Wycombe.
Hope it’s taken account of home and away PPG...not sure it has. Wycombe seem to be the biggest winners, probably fair for the Championship imo. Wolves, Spurs and Arsenal would all miss out on the top six but well done Sheffield Utd and probably Wolves if City’s ban is upheld.

I think you should add current form to your current total.

Ie: last 9 games results if you have 9 games left, last 10 games' results of you have 10 games left and so on.

I think that this would be the fairest way to artificially end the season.

They are never going to end a season artifically. It's lar lar land to think so.
The law suits would come faster than Barrymore to a swimming gala.

Agreed! Personally I think it should be nothing played.
Games being played behind closed doors won't work either, if one player in the team has the symptoms then all of them will have to self isolate leaving no one to play unless they have a never ending supply of testing kits, and don't forget players can opt out anyway. Also why can footballers go to work and not keep to social distancing while the rest of us have to abide by the book?

Well, if that’s as accurate as your suggestion on 3/3/20 then the restart of the season should be imminent.

Seriously though...we are left with four solutions...all far from perfect.
a) Play the season out in empty grounds.
b) Finish the season with current positions as final positions.
c) Abandon this season completely.
d) Work out the remaining 20% (ish) of the season according to form from those matches already played during the first seven and a half months of the season.

For me the order of preference is a, d, b, c, depending on the viability, from a safety point of view, of a...but I’d love those who favour c (abandonment) to explain why that’s preferable to d (the football equivalent of cricket’s Duckworth Lewis system).

P.S. I know that those who are relegated, miss out on promotion/Europe will squeal but this is about fairness and the future not self interest.

Not quite sure how they’ve done it. Only changes in the top two divisions, from current to recalculated positions, were Sheffield United and Wolves swapping places along with Spurs and Arsenal but in League One it seems Wycombe have jumped from 8th to 3rd.

Rammie, I think current form would fly out the window.
Clubs would have players back from injury
Players would either be rested and fitter/ or out of shape and worse than they were form wise
Crowd advantage would obviously change.
You can't add that into a guess
