    Adolf's Little Black Book

He had one did Adolf, the Sonderfahndungsliste G.B., all ready for when they crossed the English Channel and took over Blighty. It contained a list of 2,820 names, British subjects and exiles to be arrested by the SS on invasion.

"Their targets were a motley collection, including writers, bankers, the Public Schools, the Boy Scouts and, for some reason, the Rossendale Union of Boot, Shoe and Slipper Operatives".

WTF , I know there are some rum buggers up't Valley, as 59 will no doubt testify, but what had those lads ever done to upset Adolf ? It seems daft, but knowing what happened in other countries where the SS was let loose, if the Germans had taken over you wouldn't have given much for their chances of survival.

That's another lucky escape I had then.

This is news to me Comrad. But it makes sense. If you wish to stop the masses rebelling, particularly when wearing a good, solid pair of clogs, then carefully controlling their footwear is key.

But, knowing the wily ways of Valley folk, I am sure that they were on to his dastardly plan and had an underground movement in place in Bacup.

I lived for a while in Bacup, and I was often detatched in to their Fire Station, so although it's before my time, if I had been around back then and advising the Germans as they advanced inch by inch through our green and pleasant land, I would have strongly suggested they stop at Rawtenstall and leave them feckers further up to their own devices.

The Waffen SS would never have made it past Waterfoot. No-one would! In my late ****s I started going out with a proper bonny lass from Bacup.

We had been doing a bit of "courting" in Burnley and Rawtenstall and things were going really well until I got invited to the parents. Enough to say the romance died on that fateful Sunday tea.
