Not really a question of balance. I posted it show how we are being perceived in some countries abroad. There was more in the Guardian yesterday.

Why is it you always say you're not doing what is abundantly clear to all you are doing.

My reply was to your comment "If you look at what has happened in London (population density 4,542 per square km), Madrid (5,400 / sq. km) and New York (10 431/sq. km – seriously?) – all major airline hubs - it’s not hard to see why they have been hit so hard. It’s a matter of maths, not politics.

I said "Hong Kong and Singapore have similar population densities - not sure the phrase Id use is a 'matter of maths'. Id be more interested to know how they dealt with it. I think we ignored their experience."

You posed the thought that it was a matter of "maths, not politics"

At the risk of nit-picking your nits - if youd said "epidemiology is a matter of maths", and I answered as I did then maybe you'd have a point.

Our contact at the Ritz asked me to mingle at the Beach Club as she said I look the part (whatever that means).
Anyway, my job was to mingle and look good and help attract new members. It seemed to work even though the joining fee was $120,000 and then $10,000 a year membership. The bar was free for me so all I had to do was drink copious amounts of Grey Goose and mingle.
Afterwards Mrs Sota and I would eat in the restaurant.... all on the house.
I spent one evening chatting to an attractive woman who gave me her room number, as usual, but she bored me to tears moaning about the fact that she'd just got a tax bill for $3,000,000!
Not a bad evenings graft, I'm sure Roly will agree.
PS Graeme Souness was a member there then but I think he sold up.
Sounds good Sota, do you still ‘ look the part’ now?

It’s like this, Wan: You, John and others may think that Johnson should be tried in the court of public opinion and in the absence of any clear evidence, whereas I don’t. I watched too many Hammer Horrors as a kid to want to join the pitchfork and torch brigade. My job also makes me keenly interested in notions such as evidence and a fair trial (Mikey screenshot moment).

Interesting piece in the LA Times, which, if true, could provide another explanation as to why Europe and the USA has not been, on the face of it, as successful in dealing with Covid19 as Far Eastern Countries:

We should wait for the science and an objective analysis of the British and world response to Covid19, but I guess that lynch jobs don’t need that sort of nonsense, just a length of rope and a sturdy tree.

P.s, I meant to say the other day that in think there might be something in your comment about face masks.

What drives you to keep referring to "your job" Kerr
No-one else on here refers to their job with such monotonous regularity

Yet for some time you were more than keen to know my job.
