What’s the problem then, if the boss says it’s not safe to work and people can’t get to work due to child care issues as schools are not open he can keep you furloughed and paid for by the government. It’s why the scheme has been kept open.

Rishi is about to put the squeeze on workers to force them back to work to put bread on the table.
The furlough scheme is probably about to be reduced to make it impossible for the Ordinary Joe to survive. My guess is that today Rishi will be at the lectern (with fresh haircut) full of warm words and thanks and then he will slip in the fact that the furlough payment will be cut from 80% to 60% from 1st July and then either say further action is being considered or just say that it will go down to 40% in August, down to the approximate level of Universal Credit.
The furlough scheme is not Rishi being generous. It's the Govt borrowing money from the money markets and the Ordinary Joes will be paying it back for a generation either through increased taxes and/ or the continuation of austerity in the Public Sector. Pay rises for the NHS ? Don't think so.
