Agreed. I'm not counting any chickens yet because I fear there will even be a few panickers in the Cabinet, but so far Boris seems to be standing his ground.

Johnson is lucky that the commons is in recess next week. If i were Starmer i would put down a vote of no confidence on Johnsons handling of this shambles and dare the Tories to vote against it. Every Tory who sides with Johnson is putting politics ahead of what is right. The people should not forget this.

    They've lost The Mail.

And the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg has also withdrawn her support

"If Boris Johnson's decision to appear at Sunday's press conference was an attempt to close down the story about Dominic Cummings' behaviour during the lockdown by handling it himself, it failed completely."

Standing his ground at what cost? After he came out of intensive care and had a kid his popularity rating was high. Most people know right from wrong however, and the longer he allows this shameful situation to drag on the lower that rating will get.

I think that what concerned me most is the total lack of realisation on the part of both of them of the way a large number of the public feel after making huge sacrifices.

What we have sacrificed is acting on instinct. Time and again we've had natural instincts but said no. However, Boris Johnson seems to be lauding Cummings for doing exactly the opposite.

If there had been some realisation that on reflection it sent out the wrong message, that it really didn't look good, even though I think it was wrong, I would have given him some more slack. Instead we got 'Who cares about good looks?'

I can't defend Cummings, I don't like the bloke but I had to laugh tonight watching the news.
The journalists who are out for his blood were swarming all over him like a rash, no 2 metre distancing for them.
    Bloody hypocrites.

The Bishop of Bristol Vivienne Faull "in a nation where the PM has no respect for the people. The bonds of peace and our common life (which had been wonderfully strengthened during the testing by CV-19) have been dangerously undermined this evening."

The Bishop of Willesden Pete Broadbent, "Johnson has now gone the full Trump."

This fluctuation appears to be closely related to whether you share my view or not.
