Is the first spectator sport back after lockdown. Remember this for future pub quizzes!
A 90 mile race between Kettering and Barnsley
Over 4000 birds start at 10 am, beating the return of horse racing by a few hours.
(evidently fishing doesnt count as a sport for the purposes of this)
Have to disagree mista.
The majority of fox hunters just want blood, much like the "spectators" at the Colisseum in Roman times. So much so that, should the intended victim "out-fox" the hounds and go to ground, the upper class ****s of hunters get their spades out and dig the fox out of the ground so the hound can rip it to shreds.
It is not my idea of sport. It is currently banned and I sincerely hope that it stays that way.
Banned but not properly enforced, sadly.
MA I'm talking about fishing ,please don't say it's cruel because it isn't I've fished since I could walk Now fix hunting I hate that it is barbaric It won't affect your country but this lot in power over will definitely th to bring it back With the majority they have it won't be a problem for them
Fishermen have always said fish don't feel pain. This is what the Smithsonian Institute has to say on the matter......

Some don't feel pain IF the hook is in certain parts of the mouth. The other fish DO feel pain. More so if they actually swallow the hook. IMO even those who don't feel the hook WILL feel fear and their natural reaction will be to "fight".
Well, as speeding birds is kind of on topic, a little bit of trivia to go with Geoff's pub quiz banker...
The flight speed of the Golden Plover, was the reason we have the Guiness Book of records. At a shoot attended by Sir Hugh Beaver (Guiness MD), someone asked how fast the Golden Plover was. Being embarrased at not knowing, Sir Hugh set out to measure it, and then began the Guiness Book of Records.
Relatedly, the fastest animal ever, the Pereguin Falcon (recently clocked at over 240mph in stoop), is not as fast in level flight as a Feral Pigeon.
So if pubs ever reopen, there's probably a few points answers on this thread!
