It's a slightly different stance this one isn't it because he's saying that he doesn't want to get injured due to an impending move to another club rather than virus related
I'm sure Charlton and his Manager are livid even though they don't say so in public. Your best striker is refusing to play when you need him the most.

I assume He's still under contract to play but as we know it doesn't always mean very much. Withhold his wages perhaps but he,ll take that I'm sure

I read it that he is out of contract at the end of June. Even if he isn't, a significant number of players will be, whilst loan players will have returned to their parents clubs, which is another reason why trying to restart the season at this time is daft

Yes I believe he is at the end of his contract and it seems he's bagged a large new contract with another club.
I don't know which day it expires but it might be 30 June so I would imagine he's contractually obliged to play in any games up to then.
I'm sure I read that players usually receive their salary for July as well even when they've left so there maybe some moral obligation to play in any games in July too.
Obviously Lyle is having none of it and is off.
I'm sure I read there were ownership issues at Charlton which won't have helped any allegiances he may have had
