Ive already answered your question. We dont go looking for countries to blame in other outbreaks* - why this?

It leads me to think its more wrapped up in politics. Trump has fed us a mantra of 'the Chinese Virus' for a reason. Its to build anti China resentment and help in his economic dispute with them. Social media plays a big role in moving the message on. Like I said earlier, youve been hooked into the campaign (but this is my conspiracy theory).

I read a post from an Aussie friend to the effect ' buy Australian made good and dump Chinese imports. Exactly what Trump wants. I read another article this morning of 3 Chinese business owners murdered at their factory in Lusaka, Zambia [ quote from the article: "In the days leading up to the murder, Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa had accused Chinese bosses in the capital of "slavery reloaded," used the derogatory term "Chinaman," and, stoking racial divides, reminded the public in a video posted on his Facebook account that "black Zambians did not originate coronavirus. It originated in China."].

You could read my previous posts over the last couple of days and form your own judgement on what I think.

I think your phrase "economic dispute" is spot on Wan Chai
I have heard him pontificate that he [in his bid to convince the world] was ahead of the game by "closing down" the airports & stopping the "Chinese" as he says with venom entering the USA Also was doing the same with Muslims[which seems to have slid from the headlines]
His actions were for economic reasons & his inherent dislike of the Chinese & of course Communism not public health

I think it's a bit early to come to any conclusions and I'm open minded about it. Whilst both of my suggestions were made up and perhaps a bit far fetched (which I did point out in my original post) it was done to spark debate.
I also believe it's dangerous to just blindly accept that it wasn't man made or promoted by man in the absence of a review and the secretive nature of the alleged country and place of origin

The main reason for my open mindedness is that Putin has already successfully undertaken something similar in Salisbury so it wouldn't be beyond someone else to do it.

With due respect Flour my original comment was simply to say "There was lots to learn from China too (like testing, and shutting down regions to contain the spread). But the Chinese were dismissed as disgusting lying con artists - while we were following world class science."

Subsequent posts were in reply to questions posed by Stovic and you. Ive not drawn any conclusions, simply posted my thoughts.

Where have I actually dismissed it as being man made? I simply argued that the theory doesnt stack in my opinion and knocked back back your 'made up' suggestions.

Big different to what youre implying above that I'm 'blindly accepting' its not man made. Did you think Id go along with your 'made up' questions?

The life of Grist

My wife is a teacher so she’s been at school looking after the kids of essential workers

My mother is bed bound at home but she can’t have visitors

My aunt died from corona virus but we couldn’t attend her funeral

I’ve been following the rules and queuing outside supermarkets and the pharmacy

My father in law, an active bloke in his 80s that normally goes dancing, has trips to the local pub, goes to the theatre and does crown green bowling has been isolated from day 1 of the lockdown.

Our granddaughter is off school with no real date for a return

My son is working from home but long term employment is questionable


So as a “clan” we’ve followed the rules

Then today we see the protest in London and think “**** why did we bother”

it's only my opinion but 400,000 deaths and crashing alot of the worlds economy's makes it different from other outbreaks. Thanks for Yr reply even if you didn't give me a straight answer.

I wasn't talking about you, I was writing in general terms although you do seem very defensive about China.

Have you asked yourself why they allowed that for weeks
How many came into the country carrying the disease?
What the gov't should be slated for is for being too bloody late

Yes they are too late and people are bemused as to why they are doing this now when we have a grip on the problem.
Whilst every little helps it would have been much more effective at the beginning commencing with foreign students from SE Asia and in particular those two who ended up at that hotel in York.

I don't understand how the govt thought it would control the spread by isolating 20 or so people from a cruise ship but allowed thousands per hour unchecked and uncontrolled through the air gateways
