A black woman phoned up Jeremy Vine this morning to say she though little Britain was hilarious, and wasn't offended by it.
The black panellist asked her why she wasn't offended and couldn't understand it.
I see Keith lemon's apologised for imitating Craig David and other black celebs.
What about offending David Dickinson? He uses orange for that. Is that allowed?
They're on about renaming streets.
When they pointed out Penny Lane was named after a slave trader one caller thought they should ban the song.
Where will it end?
If they ban all this stuff it Looks like this Charlie Williams book may make me a fortune on the Black Market. Only cost me £3 an orl.
I can't for the life of me Animal imagine how any-one can defend the erection & continuation of these type of statues which commemorate the trading of slaves
Aren't there enough good people on this earth to commemorate?
They were not erected by "ordinary Joe" and should not have any place in our society then or now & it's long over due that they went
Isn't it odd that in our capital you will not find any statue to Nye Bevan
Wonder why?

Black men were dragged from their families in their villages in West Africa against their will. They were rammed onto overcrowded ships and thousands died during the trip across the seas to the Caribbean and southern states in the USA. They were then forced to work in horrendous conditions where further thousands died on plantations growing things like sugar, cotton and tobacco. The cheap to produce tobacco was mainly brought to Bristol to places like the WHD Wills factory, the cotton and sugar was brought to Liverpool and the cotton moved on to Manchester area mills. Vast profits were made by the mill/factory owners and statues were erected to honour these great people.
If I were an ancestor of one of the slaves and was walking past one of these statues ivvery day ad be a bit narked..

There's still slavery in this country especially with the wealthy dudes
I said in an earlier post that I'm not in favour of erasing history Exile .
Auschwitz and Belsen still stand today as a memorial for example when they could have been raised to the ground
It's the context that they remain that's the issue which is why it was right to leave Auschwitz and Belsen standing and statues of slave traders should be put in museums .
As far as Bevan is concerned Exile the Labour Party when in power could have honoured the man .
However the last Labour government seemed to want to put as much distance between itself and its Socialist roots as it could .
They'd have been more likely to commission a statue to a departed Goldman Sachs CEO than Nye Bevan .
