    Has to Emlyn Hughes for me, and I think he was the one who made the inspired singing of Gerry Gow.
    Talking of Gerry Gow, saw him the other day on the old ITV big match reruns from 1976. Opening game of the season, newly promoted Bristol city beating Arsenal at highbury.

    I would agree with Emlyn Hughes but I can't remember them days.

    I would say;
    Mark Robins
    Scott Minto
    Matt Derbyshire
    Jody Morris

    Possibly Deon Burton

    Tommy Doc was mentioned earlier but he was appointed as a manager, assume the thread was more related to players. Emlyn was also appointed as manager but player also.
    As a “”name” I would consider Emlyn at the time was a bigger one.

    Won Domestic and European Honours, more than 60 England caps some as Captain.
    Struggled first half of his first season in charge then anyone remember the 9 consecutive wins in the February. Those wins sent us to third spot and we eventually finished seventh.
    Problem with Crazy Horse he didn’t know when to hang up his boots.

    A mention for Ian Porterfield and Tommy Doc.
    ^^^ post #8 Lincs, just in case you're feeling drowsy LOL.
    I thought the thread related to managers and players.
