To be fair to the Lefty bible the Grauniad BT, it does mention the fact that they could have been targeted because they were gay, but it doesn't go into it in any depth, but our national broadcaster chooses to ignore the fact. It is indeed shameful as you say, but not surprising.
Conflate, confuse, coerce and control sinkov.
It's a dangerous game the media are playing right now.

Why don’t you grow a pair 59-60 and have a mind of your own instead of following the masses,
Please don’t make me out to be racist for having an opinion that differs from yours,
If you go back and read my posts from the the first BLM you will see that I’m far from racist in my views, what I didn’t agree with was the fact that as I said from the start all lives matter not just Black ones.
This banner guy made a mistake putting white lives matter as Per my previous posts ,
As for the club , captain , CEO etc etc do you really think they had any option but to condemn it when people like you and many others on here have made it a massive racism problem.
You should all pat each other on the back and tell each other How brilliant you are for blindly supporting and creating more racism.
What can I say 59 give BLM everything they want and watch the country disintegrate, violence up , killings up , drugs up,
Police down of course ( they’ll still be taking the knee ) , all
To support a political scam.
Sorry if you don’t believe or can’t see that , it’s just what I really think
Is happening.
Apparently the Telegraph's woke chief sports writer Paul Hayward wrote that the banner was "the counter-strike by those who want to prevent change, by people who feel threatened and resentful about losing ingrained privilege".
I loved the comment underneath that "Burnley’s white working class will be both shocked and amused to learn that they hitherto enjoyed ingrained privilege".
Indeed they would, these woke knob jockeys in their lefty media bubble haven't got a fecking clue about the real world the vast majority of us live in.
Seems Lewis Carroll saw this lunacy coming a long while ago,
"“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
But it's not just Alice, the entire country has fallen down the rabbit hole this time. I'm not sure there's a way out.
It needs someone brave enough to open a real, proper, down to earth discourse about the real cultural division problem in Burnley, Nelson and Colne. Black Lives Matter falls way down the agenda when the BNP can beat any political party when pitching on their own turf.
That's because we have a real, everyday cultural division being enacted in Burnley and Pendle with the wedge between the white working class and our brown Muslim population.
I have tried my best to rationalise, empathise and understand the BLM malarkey sinkov.
I am not going to write an essay, but these are my main points:
How is pouring cans of paint over our war memorials and revered citizen's statues going to help?
How is it possible to re-write history?
Why do the highest officers in Trans-Atlantic police forces continue to allow the targeting and often fatal arrests of black male citizens?
I absolutely get the anger, but how does looting in major US cities help the memory of George Floyd?
I have seen lots of recent photo evidence of young black males kicking the phuck out of totally innocent white people in public places here in the UK and wonder how is this helping to assuage the tensions caused by a white policeman kneeling on the neck of a black man until he died of asphyxiation?
