I'm not opposed to his appointment on the grounds of his offensive text messages, given that he has undergone rehabilitation and learned the error of his ways. But I do disagree with the standpoint that people can't actually be genuinely offended by these remarks. It's easy to call people mock offended when you don't actually understand what offence is caused and why. I agree with the other poster that there is an element of " it was OK before so why not now? " on this board. Age isn't an excuse gents.

when it's people i know who are appearing to be offended and have colourful pasts then i think i can and ages with me late 30's early 40's. facebooks full of these pretenders

It didn't, its just that the YES brigade never shut the **** up and it gave that impression.

I'd say the majority here are for Mackay, Eastfootball is very much split, possibly more against, and Facebook is certainly against the appointment.

what on facebook out of curiosity mate? just friends or pages and groups? i've a few who are pretending to be offended, and the groups pages like Ceres seem decent with alot of support for MM

Yeah was referring to Ceres Arabs which this morning was very much against. Checked a few minutes ago and I would say it's about 50/50 now. Even still, it's quite a division.

Yeah I'd agree that there will be some hypocrites amongst us, I'm not on Facebook so won't be aware of what goes on on there. I don't think there will be many of us who have never offended anyone, I know growing up in the eighties and nineties I will have used offensive language without even thinking about it and considered it normal. But we are capable of change and of evolving as people and should not use what happened 40 years ago as our code of ethics for today. Well I would assume that's me out of the running for the job now 😂

Ceres will just go with whatever makes them most relevant as always with the 'popular supporters' on social media. Been that way since day 1 from them.
