So, although it’s still very likely, it’s clear this morning that the McClaren thing is not quite 100% done just yet. Also, it would appear it has narrowed down to the two candidates. The latest reports suggest a slight ‘stumbling block’ with Schteve. We’re assuming it’s about money. IF that is the case, then we have a choice between one who would appear to be asking for more against another who is prepared to take a six figure drop from his current post to accept our position. I still as yet fear we may end up choosing the wrong man - surely Mackay can’t offer or do much more in order to get employed?

Worth bearing in mind it's also reported the SFA want a six figure sum as compensation if we hire MM.

Can understand McClaren mulling over the move. He's used to earning almost £1M a year. We're offering between £100K-£150K. It's also a massive step down for him in terms of his career. He maybe still thinks he can manage at a higher level. Will dropping down to the Scottish Premiership be seen as him accepting that his time is over at top level management therefore English clubs being even less likely to offer him a job in a year or twos time? Dropping to the Scottish Premiership is probably the equivalent of him going to manage in League 1, maybe even League 2, in England. Its a massive step down from what he's used to.

The cynic in me Terry says the SFA will be glad to get him off the payroll. Unless he's doing a fantastic job leading Project Brave. Which I doubt.

True TTT, but I’m just highlighting on an individual level how much one candidate is perhaps prepared to do over the other one in order to get the gig. Perhaps highlights who really wants it.

You are terribly understating Scottish football there. For instance which European competition do you qualify for from the English League 1 or 2?

I get your angle but I'm sure both are millionaires already also...

In terms of how the English view Scottish football, the standard of football, crowd & stadium sizes, facilities, money available.... I don't think I am.
