Not trying to argue or anything but its really getting boring now. Tommy Wright is as likely to be Dundee United manager as Tommy Lee Jones is, he doesn't want the Job! Steve McClaren turned us down and the club have obviously decided ( wisely in my book) to avoid the negative publicity of appointing Malky Mackay. Could we all just move on please? There is absolutely no Guarantee of success no matter who we appoint so let's just get behind the new guy (whoever he turns out to be) I cannot wait for an announcement so we can stop going on about the pros and cons of Malky flaming Mackay 👍
The only good thing to come of this is it isnae FN MacPhee. We have missed a massive opportunity due to fan pressure.I take it Malky Mackay will now go to his grave without ever managing a football club again?.
If those who are trying to educate me had learnt to be more inclusive like i now am Mackay would have been appointed by now probably made his first signing and be doing double sessions on the training pitch.
As it is we are another week nearer the kick off with two guys taking training who either don't want to be here or who's services are no longer required, its hardly the ideal preparation's is it?.
Ach well at least we can say,"Look at us we took the moral high ground and Tony took our concern's onboard."
Didnt even give Mellon a second thought initially but the more I read about him, his character, style and what Tranmere fans think about him the more I am coming round to believing he would be a good appointment. He will also know the lower leagues markets in England very well, and lets face it wages wise that's where we would realistically pick up potential gems we can afford.
My last comment regarding this, GB do you think you would feel the same way about Malky if you happened to be black, Chinese or gay? Same question applies to all of those clamouring for his appointment. Why can't people just accept that the club have chosen to protect their image at a time where its a very prominent issue for society. Malky was in no way guaranteed to succeed so just not worth the risk. Onwards and upwards please gents
f*cking Tranmere"...... Of our last five managers, three have been unemployed and the other two have came from Raith & Partick. At least this guy is deemed A - good enough to be in current employment and B - has a proven track record and is vastly experienced, unlike the 'other two'. I'm done with up & coming Largs specialists, done with Scottish footballs managerial journeymen. League One may not be the all singing and all dancing of ex-England manager or ex Premiership manager but it's probably on a par with the dross we'll be playing this year and he'll have a far better budget to make a go of things with us than he ever did at Tranmere.
McClaren doesn't want it. Wright is making a great job of making it look like he doesn't want it (he could've applied after all). Malky simply won't get it. I'm not sure where else we're supposed to go with this when you look at the list of candidates & guys we've interviewed, McKinlay, Daly, MacPhee, McCulloch??
I thought it would be someone a bit leftfield and for that, I'm happy with Mellon. He's a proven winner, can clearly work on a small budget & get the best out of players who are punching well above their weight. He has an eye for a player (Jamie Vardy being a prime example) and has proven he can improve them and sell them on for profit. He's improved every club he's been at and has glowing reports from Tranmere fans that he's leaving behind.
We're never all gonna be happy at the end of the day.
Micky Mellons Tangerine Army! Bring on season 20/21. 🍉🍊
