I doubt very much even you would have opted for Jim McLean. Big names count for zero.
I'll say again, I would have welcomed Malky but we didn't appoint him and we need to get over that and move on.
    Agreed

Teams that lowly Cardiff finished ahead of when they went up as Champions of the English League Championship under Malky Mackay.

    Watford by 10 points,
    Brighton by 12 points
    Crystal Palace by 15 points
    Leicester City by 19 points
    Derby County by 26 points
    Burnley by 26 points
    Birmingham City by 26 points
    Leeds United by 26 points

It is only my opinion but i reckon Malky would have got the job if it was not for some idiot ex police officer in America killing a black criminal.Black lives matter of course but Mackay has been thrown to the wolves because of something that happened on another continent.

I can assure you of one thing though,if Mackay was the Tranmere Rovers manager last season and had accrued 32 points from the 102 available i would be on the same side as the outraged,FACT.
I'm sorry but that is *******s I'm afraid. Malky Mackay sent his texts years before the incident you're talking about and threw himself to the wolves. You really have a bee in your bonnet about Mackay not getting the job, I doubt he's as bothered about it as you appear to be. I have absolutely no sympathy for him, if you tarnish your own reputation then you are the one who has to live with it. I am not saying he hasn't changed his ways, simply that not everyone is willing to forgive and forget. Malky Mackay probably gives no ****s about Dundee United so not sure why you're defending his honour so resolutely? He still has a very very well paid job, so he's unlikely to starve anytime soon. Meanwhile we have a new manager without any baggage to damage the reputation of our club. Can we not just move on and support the new guy?

But your wanting to judge Mellon on his last season in management ignoring the previous 2 but want to ignore Mckay's last season in management and focus on other seasons. That is cherry picking.

I wanted Malky too. All appointments are a bit of a gamble. Who knows how the other two would have got on.
It's now "the king is dead. Long live the king".

Micky Mellon is a young hungry manager who has brought success most seasons. He has been known for promoting youth. He has an eye for seeing talent and his knowledge of the lower leagues might mean we can cherry pick a few good player with his knowledge.
Also Tranmere Rover is a stones throw from Liverpool fc and Everton fc. A phone call to enquire about a few loan signings wouldn't go a miss. Man City and Man U aren't far either. He must have contacts.

Cheer up Gunboat - this is a new era - don't look back - C'MON UNITED!

The previous season finished 5th in The Championship and 8 years in The Premiership before that.
