I blame Peace. He said he would only sell to someone who could take the club farther and then sold us for a ridiculous price, and told Lai to keep on running us on the same basis that he had.
We cost more than Wolves, Villa and Blues put together. I know we were in the premiership at the time, but i think that about £60m or a bit higher would have been nearer our value.
The worrying thing for me is that Lai has never shown any interest in the footballing side of the the club. People like that are very shrewd operators, they don't spend that much money on a whim. He would have had advisers and solicitors go over it tooth and comb. He knew exactly what he was buying.
The Albion i believe own all of the land up to the footbridge. Lai is a developer, its not rocket science. Even if he does nothing the price of the land will increase. He will either develop it at the expense of the club or sell it separately from the club, that way he will recoup most of the money he paid for us and then sell us separately less our assets. We are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea make no mistake.
Going up will be a waste of time, because we will be after injury prone thirty year old has beens like always.
