If you watch the F1 drivers being interviewed not one can go 20secs without adjusting their mask. People will stuff their Covid laden masks in their handbag, pocket etc and take it home with them, or take it out with them the next time they go out. To respond to your question - it may on the balance make a difference. The obvious route is to "suck it and see" but then if there is a "U" turn based on new and changing evidence the likes of you will come along and question how the Government could have got it wrong.
Maybe, but the science behind the wearing or not wearing of face masks wasn't really my point. My point was the hopeless lack of any clear direction once again from the government. Just tell us we have to wear them or tell us we don't and I'll comply. It's staggering that two of the most senior government ministers are saying different things, and equally staggering that it's being brought in 11DAYS FROM NOW! If the current thinking is that it will help stop the spread of the virus, why the f@ck is it being delayed that long?

Can't agree more, obviously just offering advice doesn't work, just look at what happened at Bournemouth beach.
The public have to given clear instructions what they have to do.

This^^^ Advice doesn't seem to work and when I do venture out, it's pretty ob that less people are bothering to wear masks. But why 10 days? To allow businesses to get themselves sorted and buy some to give to people who haven't bothered to buy/wear one?

You might comply but judging by other recent posts on here many won't and are not and we don't have sufficient police to enforce. The issue is now beyond contracting the disease or not. Much harm is being done in other areas and some of that harm is costing lives too.

So yes it would be nice if everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet and it would be nicer if those writing the "science" for the hymn sheets were consistent. To crib from a well known phrase or saying ".. because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know."

Scientists are saying we could see a mega wave of Covid this Winter. Maybe it's time to wear a mask, from a week on Friday.

Which is why it was so wrong of the government and Hancock in particular to speak of 'THE science' at the beginning of all this as though science consists of one voice based on empirical evidence. Science is as open to dispute as any other field and always subject to interpretation. For Boris & Dom it offers a wonderful opportunity to pick and choose what they wants to hear.

If only BoJo, Hancock, and their advisors had followed the science they wouldn't have caught Covid themselves.

But you see, if my sister has to add two numbers together then multiply them by something else she calls it Maths, I call it Arithmetic. The statistics being used at the time falls somewhere in between with a smattering of politics.
