We penny pinch at every opportunity.......this is an historic fault with Albion.

January we needed Gayle or Billy Sharp or someone of that ilk.......even an ageing Defoe would’ve been enough.

“Spoil the ship for a halfpenny worth of tar” was one of my grandad’s favourite sayings.

    We never learn.

We don’t invest that bit extra and we don’t give enough chances to our own youth either.

There’s no wonder fans like me have lost the will to keep coming after 46 years of breaking my neck not to miss games.

It’s so dispiriting following a penny pinching club.

You are so bang on Mick!! Lose at Huddersfield and it’s completely our fault and we don’t deserve to go up! Sawyers annoys me as he likes most Brentford posts - fact is he would not have a chance of getting in their side!! Who does our recruitment - a chap with a white stick?? You can’t tell me Gayle or equivalent would not have cost any more than our three cart horses put together!!

We never learn as you say and apart from 4/5 players we need a huge overhaul!! A good keeper is as good as a good striker and Johnstone is poor!! Not all aged players are bad as Brunt could still do a job as seen when he came on and in goal - Johnstone or Joe Hart??? Joe Hart every time for me as a safe pair of hands keeps the rest of the defence full of confidence!!

Scott Sinclair now on for Preston, that’ll sort things out. 😎

Preston should be ashamed - never even tried to win it or press!

Got the job done but I wasn't particularly impressed by Brentford.

Stoke is irrelevant as if we don't get three points at Huddersfield its the play offs. That simple!

We really do have ourselves to blame. Surely we could see in the January transfer window that our strike force needed a boost. Austin is past it, Zohore just isn't good enough and although I rate HRK's all round game he isn't a prolific scorer and needed someone to compliment his style. I am fed up with the criticism of HRK as he has done well for us this season with very little support from the two other 'so called' strikers.

Let's now look at the stats. We have only lost 6 games and I think we have had 14 draws. We only had to turn two of those draws into viictories and we would be up and, in my opinion, it's lack of goals from our strikers that has been the problem. The last two games have been a case in point as we had enough chances to have won both gams comfortably. As mick has stated, a lack of ambition and a reluctance to spend that little bit of extra cash has been our downfall. Yes, we could still go up but by not investing in the area where it was most needed we have made it a far more difficult task than it should ever have been.

Totally agreed Leicester. Prior to the lock down whilst still not convinced with HRK - I said his work rate was second to none. Since the Blues game though HRK has been really poor, and I would have tried Tolloch. Who do you play against Huddersfield HRK or Austin? Difficult one as both clearly not good enough - HRK holds the ball up well and works hard but not a finisher and Austin who does not get around but more likely to score!

Personally all three strikers are not fit to lace Gayle's boots and here lies our problem. Don't get me started on Benrahma and Watkins in comparison as they are class - the class that we have been missing and certainly the goal power! One chance against Huddersfield and it needs to be in the net!

Surely that's the point people are trying to make? We have had 20 different goal scorers this season which is great but you can't rely on players you ordinarily don't usually expect to see on the scoreboard to bail out strikers not getting the goals. its precisely because of that we are where we are. Had the strikers made even an average contribution with the goals from other areas of the park we'd be out of sight by now.
