Losing Butcher would be a disaster. He loves Utd, loves living in the area, and last night he posted a picture on his Instagram of him in the new kit. Doesnt mean much obviously but he doesnt give off the look of someone who wants to leave the club.

With you there mate, that’s why I’m not understanding things along the lines of ‘if he wants to go then let him feck off to Hearts’. I’ve seen no evidence for this whatsoever.

    3 separate issues here

1 is he good enough for Premier?
imo jury is out but my gut says unlikely
2 is he better than what we have and that's why folk suggesting he's irreplaceable? Probably imo
3 If {a big IF I accept btw) he wants to go then end of debating points 1&2

Regardless, we need more quality and a stronger squad and that's for Mellon/Ashgar to negotiate

IMO Butcher was good for us when he played in Prem the first time around.

Agreed. Very confused by people still questioning his credentials in the top league. He was good for us when his only experience of football was some games at Hayes & Yeading ffs.

He's been down south at some good clubs, multiple promotions, massively important for us last season. People are just pulling things out the air to have something to moan about like "does he have the legs for the prem?" What are you on about? He is 29 years old...

He'll be one of the first names on the team sheet. There isnt another player in our squad (bar Shankland) that we would miss more than Butcher.

I am confident he wont leave but if he does I'll be gutted.

I don't think anyone's suggesting he actually wants to go, moreso the fact that when a bigger club comes calling, and let's face it they are a bigger club, then players heads might be turned and 'wanting to go' may be relevant. Right now it's not, but in general, if any player ever wants to go, let them.

It certainly wouldn't be a disaster. Losing GMS & Armstrong was a disaster. But yeah, I'd be surprised if he f*cked off to Hearts tbh.
