He’s a forward which we need

He is a central player though. I'd say we are fairly covered in that area. Need more of an out and out striker if anything and even then that is probably 4th or 5th priority in my opinion.

I see a few negative posts creeping in about our squad.
Can we press pause for a month or 2 and look at the reality please:

1-We have a new manager who has no favourites.
2-We have a load of hungry players with a point to prove.
3-We have an owner with a plan who's willing to invest and transfer window open til Oct
4-When we're all together our support is the best in the land

Let's see the difference 1&2 makes before demanding 3 happens
4 should always be relied on especially this season

He's also 30 years old & isnt getting any better. How good is he? He's done nothing since leaving Dundee. 15 goals in nearly 100 appearances over 4 years.

It's a no from me. I think we could do better.

Dundee United Football Club is delighted to announce the arrival of Luke Bolton on a season-long loan from English Premier League giants Manchester City.

The 20-year-old, who was part of the England squad who won the Toulon Tournament in 2017, is highly-rated at the Etihad Stadium and arrives at Tannadice with bags of potential having graduated their academy alongside the likes of Phil Foden.

Primarily a winger who can operate at full-back if called upon, Luke is a direct player with pace to burn who loves to take on defenders and deliver crosses into the box.

This is Luke's third loan spell of his career. He first spent time at Wycombe Wanderers during the second half of the 2019/20 campaign before joining Luton Town in the English Championship last season, helping both club's steer clear of relegation.

Luke said: "It feels good to finally be here at such a prestigious club. I know they've just come up from the Championship so, hopefully, I'll be able to contribute to helping them stay up and push for a high place in the Premiership. I've watched Scottish football for years on Sky Sports and I know Dundee United are a big part of that.

"I want to be able to play consistently week-in and week-out and enjoy my football. Last season at Luton I was happy with my achievements, I played full-back there so, hopefully, coming to United I can contribute to goals and assists."

I think we have to be patient - I am sure signings will arrive but no doubt its been on hold because of budge and her ventriloquist dummy. No idea how first few games of season will go but hopefully fans know we need to be patient given the circumstances. Maybe we will come out firing maybe our defensive issues will be severly exposed but i reckon Mellon will develop this and we will finish above mid table.

As it stands, I genuinely don't believe out best 11 on the park is any worse than probably half a dozen teams in the league. But, I do think we need more depth. If a couple of our best 11 are injured or suspended then we will be relying on young lads to make the step up and perform (Glass, Mochrie, Neilson etc). We need dependable back up which youth doesn't provide unless they are exceptional for their age. I say, a centre-half is needed. Probably a couple of midfielders, one central and one wide, and one of them capable of providing goals. Another striker contributing goals too. And fingers crossed Luke Bolton is the other out and out winger we've needed.
