It was a tactical foul as he'd been absolutely roasted by Nisbet and the boy was clean through. He knew exactly where he was and what he was doing however a more street smart striker would've waited until he was in the box before going down.
A fine line between giving away a penalty (and subsequently being at fault for 3 goals in 3 matches) and giving away a free kick.
Strange decision giving him 2 years right now tbh. Cannot fault the boys effort & commitment along with his influence in and around the dressing room but I'd have waited to see how he gets on between now and Christmas before dishing out extensions.

Not really sure what your point is tbh

You said that even the best defenders in the world use this tactic and yeah I agree but they won't use it as much or will get skinned as much as Connolly will so we can look forward to getting more bookings, free kicks or penalties against us because of "tactical fouling"

If I remember correctly Butcher put the whole defence in trouble with a terrible pass which was intercepted and hibs broke fast.
Connolly maybe did get done by nippy Nesbitt but bring him down or give away a scoring chance is a no brainer given the spilt second choice he had to make. Butcher has been way off in the last few games and his distribution has put us in trouble on a number of occasions.

Again... I agree he had to bring him down but like I say we can look forward to him having to do this a few more times this season imo..... and yeah don't get me started on Butcher FFS..... If my mate Powers had passed the ball back or sideways as much as he has over the 1st 3 games he'd have been lynched on here.

Yes no doubt we will pick up a few bookings this season, probably give away a few free kicks and the occasional penalty too. Not really sure what you're expecting tbh, perhaps we might pick up a gem of a defender for about £25 million or so if Mr Ogren is feeling generous? Chances are he will give away the occasional free kick or penalty too though 😂

I'm fairly certain it wont cost £25M to upgrade on Connelly or Reynolds tbh.

..... Or we can just get a defender in for nowt and make him into a £25 million pound player..... Sure we've done that before

It doesn't cost £25m for for a defender to have a wee bit of composure.

Anyway I'm hoping in 3 months time I'm on here saying "ok I was wrong, that 2 year extension should have been a 4 year one" rather than "FFS Connolly no another penalty/red/yellow"
