Good to see that The Guardian is on the ball. Several weeks ago I posted about the lack of a time cut off between positive test and death in the data used for the PHE figures.
In fairness to PHE, they were always clear about what they were reporting - the number of people who died after testing positive for Covid. In the short term, it's a reasonably ok way of doing things, but it becomes less accurate over time as - well - everybody dies eventually. With that in mind the correction was always going to be made, much as it will dissapoint those who want to use a high death rate as a political tool.
