This Mask Fiasco!

Yesterday I popped into the petrol station in Lye on my way home from work.

As I was leaving my car I suddenly remembered I needed a mask and then quickly realised I hadn’t brought my regular one with me.

I was on low fuel but decided I’d just have to try to make it home and then recharge my battery so I could get fuel today.

No mask......no brainer in my thought process. My fault I’d come out ill prepared so it’d be me to suffer.

After a rummage around I found I had another mask in my storage compartment so I was able to refuel.

I ventured into the shop to pay only to see a middle aged Asian gentleman in front of me......shirt down to his ankles and turning away from the till munching a Snickers Bar whilst proceeding to ignore the arrows and walk right past me ( “ignorant f u c k e r” I thought to myself )

When I got to the till I asked the cashier......”so it’s one rule for us and a different rule for that lot is it?

For those of you who don’t know Lye is now mainly populated by Asians and Romanians with around 80% of people being of the above.

She nodded wearily at my question and told me that she was sorry but because she was working alone all the staff had been told not to confront people refusing to wear a mask.

I sympathised with her,there was no way I was attaching any blame to her personally.

I was then told that on the Saturday night it’d been “carnage” and a “blood bath” at the station due to people taking issue with Asians blatantly ignoring the mask and social distancing rules.

It’s really not good enough in my opinion.

We get this constant “bleeding heart” attitude in the media to the fact that the Asian community is disproportionately affected by Covid yet many of these people are not willing to take the most basic safety measures.

Is it any wonder or surprise at the areas that are being locked down again with this type of attitude towards the law and common sense?

I heard via a source today that Birmingham is on the brink of lockdown in the next few days as well.

The local leaders in these heavily ethnic areas ( who are supposedly so well respected ) need to get off their a r s e s and drum it into their flock that they need to start sticking to the rules.

If I can run in the middle of the road whilst out training and wear an inconvenient mask like millions of others then these selfish,arrogant w a n k e r s can as well.

The government advice is that shops are not to challenge people to wear a face covering. By doing so it will leave employees personally liable to contravening the Equality Act 2010 and can be fined up to £5,000 because those not wearing a mask can claim an exemption. The person claiming exemption does not need to declare their disability whether that person has a genuine disability or not.

Therefore the bottom line is you either choose to wear one or not to wear one. Only the Police, community officer or a local council official can challenge an individual and even then that person only as to state he has an exemption and then walk away. That is why there is so little in the way of fines. Those who get fined are stating they are not wearing one based on liberty arguments.

Governments in general have to make clear the changes
I believe it is law over here when going into shops and on public transport......compliance has been for the most part very good....When I look at some countries....it does seem very unclear........

Is It correct dubs that Ireland have just introduced further draconian measures such as All outdoor events limited to 15 people, down from 200
Indoor events limited to six people, reduced from 50

All visits to homes limited to six people from no more than three households, whether indoors or outdoors

Football matches and other sporting fixtures can only take place behind closed doors

Restaurants and bars can remain open, but must close by 11.30pm

All because of an increase in infections from 60 to 500 in one week? Face coverings in shops are mandatory in shops in Ireland

Yeah the pub scene is still more or less closed.......it feels very different over here alright. Shopping centers are weird indeed....lots of shops not reopening.....very unusual feel....almost apocalyptic look and feel about the place...now we have a red storm warning for the south!!!
It hasn't stopped raining here since May...even for Ireland the weather has just been unreal.... The All Ireland Championship has been cancelled till November/December.....thats a big deal for over here....so unprecedented alright......

Sorry...I just saw the last bit now....No...it has been increasing for a while now...3 counties went back into lockdown mode a while back. There is a lot of clusters springing up around the place.....On a per capita bases...we are the fourth worse country in Europe at this moment in time. Our infections are increasing in the general population, faster then in the UK or France...close to Spain and the like....
Wont take much to push us back into the red zone. Mostly young people.

I visit a lot of towns and cities during the week and even though there appears more traffic on the roads the shops and the shopping centres themselves still seem far quieter than normal, perhaps due to muzzle wearing or people are simply still too scared and anxious to venture out. I notice there are far fewer people on public transport as well.

I agree with you dubs about this strange feel about the place when out and about. I'm now Seeing almost as many folk wearing bits of cloth on their face when outdoors as in the shops and for me this as heightened that feeling of anxiety and dread. One things for sure though beautiful women should and ought to be exempt from wearing a face mask, at least that would brighten the day.

The problem with the Asian community is not going to be alleviated until the government is prepared to accept that they are a big part of the problem. The fact that they are affected more is nothing to do with genetics but their life styles and their inability to abide by the rules and recommendations set out by the government. They don't seem to think that rules apply to them! The media must also shoulder a lot of the blame because of their political correctness and bias by not telling the public how it really is. I will admit that youngsters are also a problem and they need to make a greater effort to ensure the safety of others.

My point is being somewhat missed here.

I was being told by the cashier that there was confrontation and violence taking place because customers were up in arms about Asians just ignoring the law almost to a man and woman.

I’ve also had two instances at that same station in recent weeks when I’ve witnessed two Asian drivers spit a gob full of phlegm in the forecourt.

Oblivious,ignorant and arrogant in my opinion yet it’s “us” who are the problem in society.

When are those at the top and in the media going to start calling this out?
