The first-choice keeper situation seems to be in hand with Kaminski, but I am puzzled as to how we're going to get another one in.
What standard will he be - if he's willing to sit on the bench all season? We might as well have kept Leutwiler!
Clearly, the experienced centre-back is now the key.
I actually think Willaims is fine for the bench, anyway, covering left-back as well.
To be honest, in a purely defensive sense, I think he's a safer bet in that latter position than Bell.
There are good things about Bell's game, but he looked much better on the occasions when we played three at the back, and he was a wing-back.
The positives for me at the moment are Buckley and Rankin-Costello. Both look at home at this level.
Buckley seems to get hold of the ball more than Holtby or Johnson.
To be honest, I still have no clue what Holtby's best position is, and I could probably say the same for Rothwell.
I have to bite the bullet now, and say that perhaps Armstrong can play as the No. 9 after all (alongside Gallagher?). I used to be very sceptical about that, but he did get two of the scruffy goals that used to be absent from his game. In any case, he doesn't contribute much in terms of defensive duties when he's played wider, so we might as well have him in the box.
To me, Brereton looks best when given a free role between midfield and attack. The trouble is, that's probably Dack's best position too. (And Holtby? And Rothwell?)
I see Rich Sharpe is suggesting we need another central midfielder. Just can't see it myself.
I think we are reasonably well equipped in front of the back five, so I think TM should definitely be focused on defenders only.
i see there are still rumours about Cunningham returning.
Anyone heard anything concrete?
