Looking at official PL average age stats we've got an interesting squad age wise.

The PL 2019/20 Home & Away individual teams stats plus goals final tables will require youthful zest & wise old heads too.

That's the concern isn't it, spending such a huge slice of money on someone that does not have proven premiership pedigree.

The have been plenty of players over the years that looked class for club & country only to not make tbe grade in tbe premiership.

If Rod takes a season to settle or doesn't suit the premiership will be very hard to recoup a decent fee back due to his age.

Dont get me wrong, I think this is an exciting signing and hopefully it works out, but all I am saying is I can understand WTF's hesitancyand I do agree somewhat.

    Anyone remember Brolin?

can't speak for WTF but I don't think he hates every signing.

Just hates every non English signing. Nothing would ensure relegation faster than building an ethnically pure team of Brits to represent Leeds. I guess we'd also have to fire the coach and some of the staff while we are at it.

No single country produces the worlds best players. If one did it certainly would not be the UK. I think their last world cup was 1966 and more that a few are way overpaid and really not that motivated. Once they get the big checks coming in and a taste for pies and pints they have a hard time keeping up on the pitch.

Fat Lampard is making the most concerted effort to build a Brit based team and even they will have more than a handful of foreign players. of course, he has a budget 5 times what ours is and still won't have a league championship.

This is despite you preaching the ABSOLUTE opposite of this to us day after day, month after month year after year!
FFS! you couldnt make this up! sure your not just a troll?
Err no, again. Wish you stop putting words in my mouth that dont reflect what I have actually written (as opposed to your blinkered view of everything I post).

What I expect the club to do is invest in players who are right, right now, because our squad as it was at the end of last season will struggle (a lot), to ssurvive"as is", AND those who MIGHT be, but where can allow for development.

Rodrigo, in my opinion, is neither. You dont agree, fine. We will see who is right shortly.

And at what age were all of those first exposed to the 1st team where they have performed?

And how many of those are seen as having any longevity?

And there come the blinkers again. What have I said about the Gelhardt signing, in this thread, no more than a few posts back? But you wouldnt have seen that, would you?

    Sorry Spaldy that's not right.

I hate every signing that wastes the clubs limited funds, and despite what others might assert, I've been right a hell of a lot more times than wrong (want me to list them all, happy to, but you would get bored) and when I have been wrong (Harrison, White, Bielsa as examples), I've said so, unlike certain other contributors who think any signing is a good one as long as it's for LUFC, and look what dross that philosophy has brought to the club.

The right player, for the right position, either able to "hit the ground running" in positions we need that, or able to contribute immediately but with potential to grow as required, preferably with experience either of the PL or the Championship but that's not an absolute. Nationality is irrelevant.

Jamie Vardy, only started playing professional league football till 25yo in Championship, was 27 when he first played premie. He's just signed a new 3 year contract.

Ian Wright, Ledley King, Thierry Henry, Yaya Toure, Teddy Sheringham, Strachan, Giggs all played at a very high level well into their 30s - he is only 29, in his prime, and is supposed to be very professional and an excellent trainer.

It’s all good for me - he brings quality and experience. Who do you compare him to in the squad - Bamford and Roberts - hmmmn Rodrigo please.

Looks like we are going to try to bring in another forward too so looks promising.

In other news looks like Colin is trying to bring Sol Bambi to Boro - now that is the sort of signing that would have worried me.
