Casilla 1/2019

Poveda 1/2020
Costa 7/2019
Harrison 7/2018

Bamford 7/2018
Roberts 1/2018

(I have discounted Alioski and Klichj, as they joined Leeds the month Orta arrived, so I doubt he was instrumental in their selection as new signings. (Bite me))

I would respectfully suggest that Poveda hasn't had the opportunity yet to show how good he can be, (although the signs are promising), nor that he made a significant contribution to promotion. I'd also suggest that had Casilla not gotten himself banned, we would not have achieved promotion, so hardly what you might call a "contributor".

That leaves Meslier, (very good), Costa, (meh), Harrison (very good last season, worked hard and improved over previous 2), Forshaw (meh) Bamford (good at some things, just not scoring enough) and Roberts (couple of stunning performances doth not a striker make). 6 players that were brought in on Ortas watch, whereas the squad constitutes 19 players, all 1st team players before his arrival, and apart from Davis, Shackleton, and Stevens all made significant contributions to promotion, so no, the dross that Orta brought in (the likes of Anita, Sloth, Grot, Ineguchi, Buoy, Cibicki etc etc etc etc), did not "achieve promotion", we already had most of the players that made that happen (and lets not forget that it is almost certainly the case that one of his imports cost us promotion last season).

Less confused now?
I think you should include Ben White, although he is not in the current squad, but I think he made a significant contribution to our promotion. You also forgot Douglas who I think was decent. So all things considered, Orta brought in about 9 players almost half of the 19 man squad who were decent players. Yes I am counting Casilla as decent. That's not bad as there are a few in the U23s who may develop into something better. Never know.
