That's not how I saw it reported - perhaps move the comment to the media bias thread then 🙄. And before you ask, I can't remember where I saw it, just remembered the idea of stopping a court being named Court struck me as amusing.

Ah sorry, just checked back and the headline was in The Guardian online:

"Andy Murray backs calls to remove Margaret Court’s name from tennis arena"

Now I'm sure, rA, that you will accept that a sensationalist red top paper like the Guardian might seek to embellish facts to further its own cause........

You can see where this is going, I need say no more 😘

Lol...my quote was from the Guardian...online. Perhaps you sometimes need to read beyond the headline.

Back in the late sixties, Andy, if it hadn’t been for people indulging in what you now call ‘virtue signalling’, others, like Basil D’Oliveira, would still be climbing trees to watch from outside rather than getting the chance to play, and excel at, international cricket.

That’s totally different, don’t just pick random stuff on a tit for tat basis

And forgetting the gay marriage issue, I agree with her on the trans athletes thing.

As may I...don’t know enough about it, but I’m not sure you can just say ‘forgetting the gay marriage issue’. That seems to be the one that has caused the most upset.

I wasn’t doing ‘tit for tat’. I’ve made two points...one, that we need to be sure of the facts before criticising and, imo, Andy Murray was asked for an opinion and gave one...and two, that the people who stood up against apartheid back in the ‘60’s/70’s were considered outspoken and revolutionary, but they were right and a lot of good came out of that stance however ‘demonised’ they were at the time.
Don’t know about ‘trans athletes’ but as far as ‘gay marriage’ is concerned...isn’t it time to stop making a fuss?

Yes it's a bit of an "apart from that Mrs Lincoln, how did you like the play" moment, Andy

Apart from...folk who spoke out against apartheid were taking the hardest of hits, AM was taking an easy hit.
