    We're already responsible for our proportion of the national debt, it won't be like a bank calling in the debt right now in the event of independence, it would crack on increasing same as it will if we stick with the union.

    But it will be our share and our responsibility to deal with.

    Just as we would inherit a share of the assets which will be ours to deal with... decommission some nukes hopefully!

    That would of course would be the decision a sensible government would take, however successive UK governments have shown to be clinging to old colonial past and like to see themselves as a big military power which they see as requiring to remain a nuclear force.

    I'm sure the good people of Scotland would be delighted to see an end to Nuclear weapons and would celebrate the decommissioning, however as Scotland would only be entitled to 10% of the weapons in line with 10% of debt - we are unlikely to be able to decommission the lot.

    However we could sell them on the black market to raise enough cash to pay down the debt
