Oh and Ferguson said if Sweden followed their model they would have 85000 deaths, they don't.
No idea why people quote Norway with half the population and half the density of Sweden.
Anyway around 4000 of 5800 of Sweden's deaths were in a care home setting, they hibsed it (or Sturgeoned it in covid terms). This was because of mainly workers and nurses going between homes. Ave age of death in care home was 88, 5 years above life expectancy.
Of the other 1800, 800 deaths were among refugees, high risk group, live in larger households for economic and cultural reasons.
Initial outbreak in spring break, most cases brought back from Italy.
Sweden now has the lowest amount of "cases" of western Europe and has not really endured any 2nd wave.
Sweden bundles there stats like the UK, dies with or by covid.
Oh and Ferguson said if Sweden followed their model they would have 85000 deaths, they don't.
And .....the Swedish strategy was never to achieve herd immunity, the strategy was and is to minimise deaths in a manner that works long term for a prolonged time whilst not killing ahh bugger else (metaphorically and literally) and the economy.
You can't argue against a comparison with Sweden's nearest neighbours at the same time wanting the Swedish approach adopted in the UK as the attitudes and behaviours of these populations are totally different. And does it really matter which groups suffered the most over there, 6000 people are still dead.
Yes it does.....of those 4000 out of 5800 a huge majority would be dead within 6/12 months anyway. A lot of these people would be very elderly and very frail a common cold would be enough to kill them. Does it mean they should have been shielded better, yes it does, does it mean you should collapse the world's economy no it dosent
Take out the care home fiasco and Sweden's deaths are very comparable with every other country.
And in Sweden now life is pretty much normal, no masks, no crossing the road to avoid people and certainly no keeping loved ones apart.
Really? I did a quick check on Sweden and they are looking at local lockdowns to inhibit the spread of the virus. If you want life back to normal in Scotland, you have to get back to full lockdown, close the borders, quarantine everyone coming in from abroad in airport hotels for 2 weeks, ban tourists, do that for a month or two and you're looking at elimination as was close to happening in July. Shame there's no money in the pot for any of that. Nor the political will from any of them, including the SNP.
What's your long-term solution then, genius
I see the Welsh labour leader has went for full lockdown, he must be an idiot as well, quick, let's get the reaction from David Icke
