He made that speech in London at the behest of the then Tory Prime Minister David Cameron who as we all know staked his political future on the UK remaining in the EU.
I am not saying Obama was lying he was doing what the Better Together campaign did in 2014 by painting a bleak picture for those who wanted to leave.
Everyone knew fine well that Obama could not put UK trade talks at the back of the queue as his time was up in the White House anyway,Cameron was on very good terms with the president and the latter was merely giving support to the remainers.

Its still out there what was really said by Obama.
