Apparently he is to be reinstated after a period of reflection in the new year. It's absolutely bonkers. All complaints should be based on a ratio or percentage of complaints to listeners/viewers. If 2 people complain out of a listening base of say 3,000, the 2 get told to grow up. If it's akin to 1500 of 3000 listeners, then maybe start looking into it.

Someone will always be offended, the other day, a vegan said the new covid vaccines breached his human rights as they contained animal products...

And we have some religions complaining that efforts are being made to open up Christmas, and Christmas services but they were denied the rights to group meet up. One religion is as always the bigger victim.

Isn't it a case though that the reason they want to 'open up' Christmas is not really religious, but rather a time that families come together, shops do their biggest trade etc. Sadly imo the religious aspect isn't what is driving this.

The complaints were coming from those who saw it as religious favoritism though. Never miss an opportunity to play a down trodden victim if you can get mileage from it. Even my granddaughter thought it was unfair until she thought about it a bit longer having had a bit of a chat about it.

Apparently it was for a triple whammy of 'handbags', saying 'the referee's wife must be in' (presumably after playing a lot of injury time?), and calling a player a drama queen and saying he should be wearing a skirt. He was warned in 2018 about his language.

The BBC has confirmed that handbags is against its guidelines though.

How utterly disgusting! Should be hung drawn and quartered, or has that practice been banned too?

If the BBC don't watch their step I might well decide they don't warrant being funded by my TV licence renewal. Snowflakes ramming PCism down our throats.

I say good work by the BBC on this one.

Look, I know it must be difficult for some of the older geezers on this site to take a look at themselves, their language, their upbringing and habits dating back many, many decades, I get that and I sympathise.

I'm not too far away from that generation myself. But I have three young daughters and if we arrive at a place where they can follow football and gender isn't used as a casual derogative reference then we'll be in a better place as a community, and society. It's not hard for those coming though and it's progress of a kind, that's for sure. It's happening, it's a good thing and there's no going back.

So don't worry, be happy, and 'Tommo' will be back to impart his considerable wisdom to the good folk of Lincolnshire in 2021
