It's been a longish journey OC, but we've got there in the end. If you go back to my original post 1344 you'll see it was precisely the headline I was criticising, nothing more.

A death rate figure on it's own is meaningless OC, when I see comparative death rates then I take a bit more interest. 5,000 people die from RIs in November this year, meaningless on it's own. Add in that 5,000 died from RIs in November last year and we know there is nothing exceptional happening, nothing to worry about. If only 2,000 died last year then obviously we have a problem. But they don't tell you last year's figure for comparison do they ? I wonder why not ?

If they start digging a mass burial pit down Edisford Bridge I'll start worrying, until that happens I'll just keep calm and carry on...

Wow storm in a teacup then. Headline writers aim to make you read what has been written, it worked very well didnt it.

I explained several times that stats are purely for comparison so I’m glad we can agree on that.
However RI is not a death category nor an accepted abbreviation unless Rhode Island or Research Institute counts.

The figures for all deaths in England & Wales are on the ONS site, you can look at previous years and if you have specific questions contact a named contact person.
Nothing is suppressed it’s just that the media or public health cite big changes. Figures for Covid last year would be zero because it didn’t have a name last year and nobody caught it. Right now it’s last week and last month that counts.
    I suggest you contact

To raise your concerns over suppression political interference, ask who “they” are and date of death etc, then I hope we don’t keep having to go over old ground again.

Well that’s not going to happen is it? You spent to long in Auschwitz.
You might worry more if your family got long Covid.

BT maybe you should try California to satisfy your death lust.

    Hot on BBC news feed

The US state of California has ordered 5,000 body bags to deal with the growing death toll from the coronavirus pandemic.

Governor Gavin Newsom said they had also ordered 60 refrigerated units for hospitals to use.

Mr Newsom said vaccines represented "light at the end of the tunnel, but we're still in the tunnel".

"And that means we're going through perhaps the most intense and urgent moment since the beginning of this pandemic." A stay at home order is in place across the state.

California is recording about 30,000 new cases every day and has a death toll of more than 21,000 from 1.6 million confirmed infections.

It is the most populous state in the US, which has been hit harder by the coronavirus than any other nation on earth. Some 300,000 people have died there, and close to 17 million have tested positive.
