I heard Starmer telling how he advised Johnson on what he should have been doing tonight, all very well, but shouldn't he get his own house in order first?

Shouldn't some of his wonderful advice be directed at the Welsh section of his labour party, which had the disastrous 2 week fire brake, followed by ambulances queued up outside hospitals and with some areas having over 1,100 cases per 100,000?

Wasn't the latest explosion of figures partially caused by London avoiding tier 3 after lockdown? Who led the charge demanding that London shouldn't be in tier 3, oh, the Labour mayor, shouldn't the all knowing Mr Starmer have given a bit of his amazing insight to his own mayor?

Will Starmer ever be challenged on this, will he flip?

Poor old Mark Drakefield, he had his moment in the sun being statesmanlike and now he just looks like a confused undertaker that's lost a body.

Ah, yes. Can you let me know the name of your optician, I'd love to know where to get some glasses equipped with 20:20 hindsight

Clearly not the ‘Rose Coloured Glasses’ one that you use to look at everything this Government does through.

No ‘hindsight’, GP...no 20/20 vision...just common sense and listening to those that understand the science. That’s the point.

Whether I’m right or not just doesn’t matter and isn’t the point. As far as Brexit is concerned Johnson is one of the architects and it’s still looking like a last minute screw up...’oven ready deal’...oh please?

As far as Covid is concerned...of course it’s not his fault and of course it’s unprecedented in living memory...but can you really defend his and Hancock’s handling of it?

I think Ram 59 recently compared the running of the country to the running of a football club. On the evidence so far, and particularly of yesterday’s latest ill timed and belated ‘U’ turn, the fans - you very vocally amongst them - would have been clamouring for the sacking of this pair.

Yes, you love to constantly knock the government, but would labour or anyone else have done any better?

The easiest comparison is Wales, where labour are in control, ambulances queuing outside hospitals, an AVERAGE covid rate of 562 which is well over TWICE that for England, which has been affected by one particular virulant strain. The welsh labour government's current handling of the the crisis makes the tories look like geniuses, that's no mean feat.

Wouldn't it be nice (if an impossible dream) to depoliticise COVID? The Chinese managed it, through brooking minimal opposition, and they appear to be back in a comparatively good place. Mind you their methods might not appeal to a left leaning thinker, despite them having a left leaning government.

Still I imagine that they invented this virus (and have had the vaccine for a year or more) to cripple the Western economies.....

Lack of joined up thinking seems to be spreading as fast as the new strain of Covid.

As of 06:00 this morning there are to be no passenger flights from the UK to NL. The aim is to stop the new strain hitting NL.

    1. We already have a few cases of the new strain
    2. People may enter NL from the UK by train, albeit via France and Belgium
    3. People may enter NL from the UK by ferry

If the aim is to stop the virus, surely the trains and ferries should also be stopped, shouldn't they?
