So as I thought we have a deal! Johnsons bluster was just that, whilst better than no deal its certainly a poor deal and a sad reflection on democracy when one considers the 48 -52 difference in the vote.


The contents of the deal are unclear and the proximity of the 31 December deadline leaves little time to understand the new arrangements, let alone scrutinise the detail. That was Johnson’s approach all along, he will have conceded too much for the Eurosceptic MP's in his party but no matter it will get approved. Though if Starmer has any nouse he will have his MP's abstain from approval, Labour should have no ownership of this farce!

Johnson does not want this deal to be examined. It is certain that it will result in an immediate downgrade for the UK economy. That is a function of leaving the single market and customs union. Trade volumes will decrease. Supply chains will be disrupted. Jobs will be lost. Foreign investment will reduce, now the Uk is no longer a bridge to europe. It doesn't include our biggest earner, Financial Services.

It will be cringeworthy watching the lying Johnson talk of victory, of achieving a "great deal" wouldn't be surprised if the term "world beating " is used! World beating? mm only in terms of shooting oneself in ones foot economically!

You will always get sour grapes from remainers as nothing short of an exit deal that completely matched, or even bettered, the pre existing stay in deal will be considered a disaster of biblical flood proportions.

They not so much consider the virtues of the deal but rather return to the shouldn't leave anyway premise and will always feel sold short not so much by any deal as by the principal.

So they chew over the old fat.....

What Johnson appears to have got, based on the sketchy detail so far given, is about as good as it was ever going to be,

Transition period of 5.5 years instead of the 10 years the EU wanted on the fishing. In monetary terms it's not worth a lot anyway.

No tariffs he says........ Possibly not a tariif as such but the extra form filling for im-and ex-ports is reckoned to be going to cost firms £7Bn a year. Guess who will end up paying that......

The level playing field. I foresee the EU keeping to it. I also foresee Johnson breaking it soon and often. The lawyers will be ready to pounce and will profit greatly.

Will people be happy once the detail is known. Ms Sturgeon et al isn't happy........ no surprise there. With Starmer urging BoJo not to allow another indyref, it wouldn't surprise me to see Joxit happen through UDI.
