No Piglet, the answer was Clive Sinclair. I don’t think that Babbage reinvented the car, do you? Different engine entirely.

We lost another game, just a couple of hours before kick off, so apologies but there’s nowt I can do about it. There’s a growing backlog but I’ll try and keep up.

Average was 5.05 to be precise this week. I work that out just so that you can see how well you’re performing against the others. Even if you don’t top-score, getting above average most weeks should keep you in the top half and with a shout of hitting the top spot. That’s what I’ve done; I haven’t done much to sit on top of the tree this week, the others just sort of dropped away. Especially Frank whose bottom-scraping 2 dropped him four places to 5th.

Best scorers were Piglet and Frenchlion with 9s. Piglet has been bubbling-under for several weeks, biding his time (see above), and now sits up four places in third, our biggest riser. Frenchlion moves up three spots to 13th. Well done lads.

There’s now only 10 points between the top 11, but most competitors are still in with a chance. The A Team still prop us up, but a couple of good weeks by any of them will put them in contention - every point is important.

Incidentally, covid stopped this being the usual 40-week season as it started late, so this competition will have its final week on 8th May when the Championship, L1 and L2 play their last regular fixtures. There will be one round each weekend until then, another 19 sets of fixtures I think, 35 weeks in total, so we’re not even half way through this unusual predictocomp season. Thought I’d tell you now so it’s not a surprise.

    Happy New Year etc.

Noticed in previous seasons as well as this one someone loads his predictions with home wins every week, can't find week 2 for some reason so the other 15 weeks equal 180 predictions.
    Home 147.
    Draws 30.
    Away 3.
    Hmm.

There are different ways of doing this; form, score/result frequencies, sharp pin and no doubt others. All are relevant but fate sometimes inserts a cruel twist so none are completely reliable. It’s just that some methods are better than others.

    Griff,

You did answer me in some hysteria with shouting and capitals, mostly i think about predictocomp coming to an end. As it surely will when Carlisle end their tenure on this earth.

I was trying to help you by suggesting you move your caboose to the United board when it happens, thats all, im always out to fix the future. See how good i am to you? I also notice that i only get a mention when i hit the skids. Its not unusual for me to be on most peoples wrong side.

Predicocomp is like poker, there is some skill, but that only maximises luck, or chance, whatever you want to call it. Its the explanation for griff being top. Oldham losing at home,? man sent off. Luck.

Ive had countless geezers sent off skewing results.

As in poker, the cards always turn, chance or luck is now ON MY SIDE. HA HA HA HA HA HA .

There were no capitals, Frank, it was all in lower case, but in a larger font.

Everyone gets a mention when they get the lowest score. Also the best scorer, the highest riser and biggest faller. That’s how it works.

And what’s all this about skewing results?

A lot of my predictions have ended in bad results because my teams have had players sent off. Oldham yesterday had a player sent off in the first half, they lost even though it was a home cert.

I was not suggesting you were cheating, even you cannot fix results in advance.
