I think that ST Mirren and Livingston may well leave us in that cut throat bottom six but who knows?.I have been amazed at good and bad runs by teams in our league ie ST Johnstone were on their best unbeaten run in their history but now havnie won a game for ages.

I think it’s very tight and that’s why small changes like with Livi suddenly make a big difference.

Hopefully we can start scoring more and have a good run

Fwiw I think St Johnstone are decent - unlucky to be where they are

In other news Robbie said this after losing to the funsters ...

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson: "On the balance of chances created we should have at least had a point, if not won the game. The game has turned again on a very poor refereeing decision.

"That's us lost two games this season and two games refereed by Don Robertson. Big call for me in the first minute - I thought a red card but didn't give it. And then the penalty - I can't see it as a penalty."

    2 questions

    1. Is this the kind of thing the SFA would penalise?

    2. Is he maybe getting a bit paranoid ?

Imo thought pars and fun won fair enough but maybe he’s trying to galvanise his players with the comments

One win in four now for St. Mirren. Snatched a last minute draw vs Killie yesterday with a bizarre own goal by the keeper. They had one shot on target the whole game. One could argue their purple patch could be over.

The managerial changes are making it impossible to predict. County looked down & out. Now two games without defeat.
Motherwell are now the team looking down & out, but no doubt a managerial change is going to happen soon for them.
Davidson at Saints as well, can he handle it when the going gets tough? It doesn't look like it. Zero wins in nine for them after a run of four wins in five.

I was very, very critical of MM during that ridiculous run of Killie (4-0), Sevco (4-0) followed quickly by the Livi humiliation at home, the struggle to beat Kelty Hearts and then of course the absolute shocker of ‘first game in seven months’ Peterhead strolling to victory at Tannadice.

However, fair’s fair, although far from exciting, the ship has been steadied. A good barometer would be to compare the two games against the SSBs. The last one came off the back of the aforementioned run of games and let’s face it, it could and should have been at least 4 zip to the Sheep with a combination of bad finishing and Benji keeping us in it. Yesterday however, we were much more accomplished. True, the Sheep were pre-eminent in possession for much of the first half from about 10-15 mins in, but in no way did they cut us open like back in October. Second half, we were arguably the better team and in conclusion possibly could and should have won with ending up having the better chances over the 90 mins. This despite significant injuries currently affecting the squad.

In summary? We are improving. Baby steps yes - but as I’ve highlighted above over the longer term we are steadily getting better. We were much more competitive against the Sheep yesterday than back in October which is testament to improved organisation and getting to grips with this league. If you’d been offered last month that we’d lose just one from Hibs (A), Killie, Well, Celtic(A) and Aberdeen (A) you’d have bitten the hand off. Yet, that’s what we’ve just achieved. We may end up just missing out on top 6 but I’m getting increasingly confident that we’ve got enough in the tank to comfortably avoid getting anywhere near bottom two.

    Keep it up United.

I hate it when they keep changing managers,as you say it can change everything at the club.I give you Livingston as a prime example.

Feel that's a very decent point in the circumstances

We have not been very lucky with injuries this season, it should give more confidence for the upcoming games

Shankland looking good aswell, also good shifts from guys who get a lot of unfair stick such as Harkes

It just takes one bad quarter for us to be right in the relegation mix come the split, not forgetting teams have games in hand. We have picked up our wins against the bottom 6 teams, but they have all been tight matches that could have gone either way, its not inconceivable these results could go against us this time, you don't want to be on a losing run at the end of the season. We have two huge games away to Hamilton and Ross County this quarter, and missing our best midfielder in Fuchs for most that. We are averaging 13 pts a quarter, a similar return this quarter would prob put us a decent position come a split.

Shankland was a massive plus. Hopefully he wasn't just 'up for it' because of the opponents and it's the start of us getting our start striker back.

Again I'm giving credit to MM, over last 10 games we have shored up defence, livvy on a great run but they have let in same amount of goals in last 10 and got 3 more points, we were up against a team yesterday who have only lost 1 of last 10.

Cup still more than half full here
