    How many times?

    I'm nae an optician.

I'm a loon wi 3 o'levels fa left school officially at 16 (although in reality, some years before)

The closest I came to university was a near permanent drunken residence of the corridor leading to the dungeon.

My apologies. However, my comments still apply

Finer stuff than the enormous bottles of Hirondelle that we used to drink in the aforesaid corridor?

Nae familiar wi' Hirondelle, but it's good stuff .... every bit as good - if nae better than the stuff we used tae 'enjoy' at the cheap wine nights at the Univ Union for £3 a bottle. Mind you, Ah canna mind much aboot those 'memorable' nights other than a heap o' bonny messes duncin tae 'Nellie The Elephant', and some right rammies on the free bus hame. The fact we 'enjoyed' mair than a couple o' thon nights is aboot as good an endorsement as is necessary

Jesus, I’d forgotten about the buses.

I mind one night, a pal of mine stotted down the bus and hit his head on the pole, causing it to ding.
The bus stopped in the middle of nowhere. ( must have been near Hillhead)

The doors opened and out fell Jimmy* into deep snow and blind drift.

The last I ever saw of him** was him having a pish with a surprised look on his face as the bus left him behind.

His caring friends just burst into a rendition of Jimmy Jimmy by the Undertones.

    * His name wasn’t Jimmy but he looked like Feargal Sharkey.

** It really was the last time I ever saw him
